Trump’s Latest DeSantis Claim Turns Heads – “Tears Running Down His Face” When He Begged Me

What’s Happening:

It seems like Donald Trump isn’t as confident in his 2024 chances as he originally hoped. When he announced his new campaign in November of last year, it wasn’t met with fanfare among Republicans. In fact, outside his rabid supporters, it doesn’t seem as if the party is eager to give him another go.

Even Nikki Haley, one of Trump’s former officials, is running for president. And many people are waiting for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s announcement. He seems to be a shoo-in if he runs. And he might very well humiliate Joe Biden, should the old man be alive by the time 2024 rolls around. Trump is so scared of Ron, that he is attacking him before he announces his campaign.

From Daily Wire:

Former President Donald Trump claimed during an interview this week that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) “begged” him for an endorsement in the state’s gubernatorial primary election in 2018 and that DeSantis was crying when he asked…

“He said if you endorse me, I’ll win. And there were tears coming down from his eyes,” Trump claimed.

As usual, it appears Trump is stretching the truth to pump up his own ego. During an interview, the former president claimed DeSantis was “losing” his 2018 race for governor and was “ready to drop out.” He “begged” Trump for an endorsement with “tears in his eyes.”

I doubt anyone believes Trump’s wild story. For one thing, DeSantis won his against a left-wing Democrat in 2018 by over 200,000 votes. And he did so well as governor in his first term, he won re-election by over 1 million votes.

You don’t become that successful out of nowhere. And even if Trump tries to take credit for DeSantis’s initial win, he had nothing to do with his landslide re-election victory. That was entirely thanks to DeSantis’s uncompromising leadership, especially during COVID.

Trump has tried to downplay DeSantis’s COVID response. Yet this appears to be more distortions of the facts. DeSantis was the only governor to drop COVID restrictions early in 2020. He managed to protect the most vulnerable, without mask or vaccine mandates. Florida did much, much better than most states.

But if you were to believe Trump, the state should be a smoking ruin by now. Not only that, but DeSantis defied the radical left-wing media in the aftermath of the worst hurricane to hit Florida in the state’s history. He did that just months before the 2022 election.

Trump is trying to make DeSantis look like a fluke who is only in office because of his endorsement. But DeSantis is a success despite Trump’s crumbling influence. It seems Trump is terrified of the man running in 2024 and is trying to slander him before he makes an announcement.

But something tells me, Trump is going to be disappointed.

Key Takeaways:

  • Donald Trump slandered Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and tried to take credit for his success.
  • Trump claimed DeSantis begged for an endorsement in 2018 “with tears in his eyes.”
  • DeSantis won a landslide re-election in 2022, without an endorsement or support from Trump.
