Trump Gets Extra Protection from Secret Service at First Outdoor Rally Since Assassination Attempt
Trump Gets Extra Protection from Secret Service at First Outdoor Rally Since Assassination Attempt

It’s been just over a month since an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania. This marked the first assassination attempt on a current or former president in over forty years.

Despite this, Americans have been given few answers about how the Secret Service could have allowed this to happen. The Secret Service has advised Trump to stop holding outdoor rallies in the wake of this incident. However, this former president has never been someone who can be dictated by fear.

That’s why Trump will be moving forward with his first outdoor rally since this assassination attempt on Wednesday. While he speaks in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Secret Service is taking special measures to ensure his protection.

The Secret Service plans to put Trump behind a special see-through protective barrier when he appears before several thousand attendees at a rally in Asheboro, North Carolina, according to a source with firsthand knowledge of the security measures.

The barrier is similar to glass used in the president’s limousine, which is also made to protect those inside from a shooting. The Secret Service said it does not reveal means and measures for protecting those who are under its protection.

Trump Can’t Be Intimidated

This will be Trump’s first outdoor appearance since he was shot in his ear during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

Trump thankfully happened to move his head at the last second before the gunman opened fire. Had he not done this, it’s incredibly likely that he would have lost his life. After this traumatic incident, it would be understandable if Trump was too afraid to ever speak outdoors again.

However, that simply is not who Trump is. The fact that Trump is already returning to his signature outdoor rallies shows that he is the strong leader that America needs right now.

Some reports are stating that it is unprecedented for an American president to have to speak through a protective barrier such as this one. Given how much the Secret Service dropped the ball in the lead-up to last month’s assassination attempt, however, we can’t say that we’re surprised that they’re finally pulling out all the stops for Trump.

While the Secret Service’s current efforts are appreciated, millions of Americans still have questions about its failures in protecting Trump in Pennsylvania.

For example, the 19-year-old gunman Thomas Michael Crooks was identified by law enforcement as a suspicious person at Trump’s rally an hour before he took his first shot. Despite this, Crooks was still able to scale a nearby rooftop and nearly kill a former president. How could the Secret Service allow that to happen?!

We applaud the Secret Service for finally stepping up their game when it comes to protecting Trump. However, that does not mean that we’re letting them off the hook when it comes to last month’s assassination attempt. In the end, the American people deserve to know the truth.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump to hold first outdoor rally since last month’s assassination attempt.
  • Trump will be speaking through a special see-through protective barrier.
  • Secret Service stepping up efforts to protect Trump after failing to do so last month.
