Trump Gets Huge Boost from Law Expert – Claims Donald Is “Right” About 1 Critical Thing

Former President Donald Trump remained defiant as the criminal case against him over alleged hush money continued in New York City. The Manhattan district attorney and presiding judge appeared in unison in their efforts to fast-track the trial.

Trump has gained support non only among his faithful supporters but from others across the country who are denouncing this trial. Legal scholars have weighed in and the former president can point out the many arguments against the trial.

One prominent legal scholar said that Trump is spot on when describing the problems with this trial. History is likely going to show what really motivated the charges and the problems the trial will cause for the judicial system.

From The Daily Wire:
George Washington University law school professor Jonathan Turley slammed the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for bringing its criminal case against former President Donald Trump during an interview this week, saying that it was an “embarrassment” to the justice system.

“What’s clear is in this case, Trump is right. I mean, this is an embarrassment,” Turley said. “I mean the fact that we are actually talking about this case being presented in a New York courtroom leaves me in utter disbelief.”

Turley made his comments during an interview where he analyzed the opening statements in the hush money trial. He said the theory behind the charges is “bizarre.” He noted that the arguments presented in court revealed all the problems with the criminal allegations not following the law.

“You know, you had this misdemeanor under state law where, that had run out, this is going back to relate it to the 2016 election, and they zapped it back into life by alleging that there was a campaign finance violation under the federal laws that doesn’t exist,” Turley said. “The Department of Justice doesn’t view it this way.”

Turley said that Trump’s team laid out factual issues in the case very well. The defense made it clear that someone else designated the “hush money” as a legal expense, not Trump, and the attorney who did the work was “paid far in excess” of the amount in question.

Turley compared the charges to the case against Hillary Clinton where her representatives funded the Steele dossier and then denied the fact to reporters. Her team, he said, designated this funding as a legal expense and then eventually fought the ensuing fine they received from the federal government that stated it was a legal expense.

Trump’s team has a lot of work to do in trying to convince a judge who is angry at Trump and a jury full of New Yorkers that the prosecutor’s charges are bogus. Maybe those seated in judgment in the courtroom will get an epiphany that the charges don’t add up.

Key Takeaways:

  • A law professor defended Trump by calling the “hush money” trial a “bizarre” injustice.
  • Legal scholar Jonathan Turley said the trial was an “embarrassment” to the justice system.
  • Turley was in “utter disbelief” after opening arguments showed that Trump was right.
