At the news conference at the state house in Concord… [Secretary of State Dave] Scanlan said that as long as Trump “submits his declaration of candidacy and signs it under the penalties of perjury, pays the $1,000 filing fee, his name will appear on the presidential primary ballot.”
A former Trump ally, Bryant Messner, tried to get the former president’s name removed from the New Hampshire GOP primary ballot. He was joined by John Anthony Castro, a Texan running for president, who filed his own lawsuit in New Hampshire against Trump.
But the secretary of state refused to even consider removing Trump’s name from the ballot. Dave Scanlan explained that there is nothing in New Hampshire law that allows a candidate to be removed from the ballots using the 14th Amendment. He also stated that the 14th Amendment says nothing about barring someone from participating in the delegate selection process.
