Democrats dared Donald to do it – well he is, and they can’t stop him now.
Months after the negotiations and shutdowns began, President Trump is ending the border wall discussion, once and for all.
Democrats have been stringing him along, and now Congress plans to vote to give Trump $1.3 billion for border fencing. Not even a wall.
If Trump accepted it and moved on, it would count as a big loss for him.
But Donald is turning it into a massive win with an announcement just coming out of the White House. From Fox News:
President Trump will sign the border security compromise package on Capitol Hill to avert another government shutdown…
…and will take the extraordinary step of declaring a national emergency to obtain funding for the border wall, the White House announced Thursday.
“President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action — including a national emergency — to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. “The president is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country.”

Trump got $23 billion in needed funding for border security in this bill, but not nearly enough of a down payment on the wall to stop border jumpers and cartels.
So Donald is going where Democrats thought he never would – he will declare a national emergency to get the military to build the wall. The entire wall.
It looks like that’s not his entire plan. We will have to wait and see for all the details, but apparently he is planning a strategic approach to getting the wall built that includes more than the emergency.
Democrats didn’t think he had the guts to do this. But Trump has made it clear to the nation, and they overwhelmingly agree, that there really is an emergency on the southern border.
Hundreds, and even thousands, jump the border each and every day. The lawlessness must end.
And Donald is ending it right now.
