The border crisis has placed immense strain on America’s communities. Cities and towns across the nation continue to struggle with the aftermath of inadequate immigration policies. Resources are stretched thin. Local services face overwhelming demand.
Many Americans have expressed growing frustration with the lack of action – and I don’t blame them. Indeed, the flood of migrants into the country during the previous administration created significant challenges for law enforcement and social services. Communities near the southern border have been particularly vocal about the need for stricter controls.
Border states have repeatedly called for stronger federal intervention. The situation has raised serious questions about national security and economic stability. How long were we supposed to just sit back and watch?
The Donald Trump administration has now taken decisive action by revoking the legal status of more than 500,000 migrants who entered the United States through a Biden administration parole program. According to a recent announcement, 532,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela will have their “work permits and deportation protections” terminated in April.
The move targets participants in what was known as the CHNV program, which was designed by the Joe Biden administration purportedly to reduce illegal immigration at the southern border by creating legal migration pathways. The program was paused shortly after President Trump took office in January – and thank goodness for that.
Biden’s Border Mistake Exposed
The Department of Homeland Security revealed serious flaws in the previous administration’s approach. A DHS official stated bluntly that the Biden team “lied to America” about the program’s implementation and security measures.
No surprise there!
“They allowed more than half a million loosely vetted aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members to enter the United States through these disastrous parole programs,” the official said in a statement.
The official went on to explain that the program “granted them opportunities to compete for American jobs and undercut American workers” while forcing “career civil servants to promote the programs even when fraud was identified.”
Let that sink in – they knew about the fraud and pushed forward anyway. You truly can’t make this stuff up!
A report released by the House Judiciary Committee earlier this month showed that former President Biden expanded both the Temporary Protected Status program and the CHNV Parole Program. This expansion allowed millions of illegal aliens to enter the U.S. “with little to no vetting,” creating significant security concerns.

Restoring Immigration Order
Conservative immigration policy organizations have praised the administration’s decision to end the program. Project for Immigration Reform posted on social media that “this is great” and noted that “the CBP One App parole program was illegal.”
The Federation for American Immigration Reform similarly supported the move, stating: “Abuse of the CBP One app and the unlawful CHNV mass parole program have been disasters for America. Those programs need to be shut down and Remain in Mexico must come back.”
Interestingly, even the Biden administration had concerns about the program’s integrity. In August of last year, Fox News reported that DHS under Biden decided to halt the “issuing of advance travel authorization” for the CHNV Parole Program. They did so “out of an abundance of caution” after an internal report found “large amounts of fraud in applications.”
When even they couldn’t defend it anymore, you know it was bad.
America First in Action
The notice published by the DHS states that individuals without a lawful basis to remain in the United States following the termination of the CHNV parole programs “must depart the United States before their parole termination date.” The policy change will take effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.
Legal challenges to the revocation have already emerged. A group of American citizens and immigrants has filed a lawsuit challenging the termination, seeking to reinstate the humanitarian parole provisions. The left never misses a chance to obstruct border security, do they?
The administration, however, remains committed to its position. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem characterized the termination as “a return to common-sense policies, a return to public safety, and a return to America First.”
