After Top Universities Cross the Line – Congress GOP Makes 1 Bold Move to End Them

Americans were stunned to learn that students on college campuses have attacked Israel. Soon after the October 7th attack, student groups at large universities sided with Palestine and slandered Israel as an occupying force.

Matters got worse when the presidents from three of America’s largest schools failed to condemn a group tide of anti-Semitism on their campuses.

Now, it appears House Republicans are trying to send a strong message to America’s schools. If this bill becomes law, colleges that allow anti-Semitism will feel the pain, big time.

From Fox News:
A Republican-led effort to strip Harvard and other higher education institutions of federal funding is gaining steam, as calls grow in Congress to “defund” any institutions that allow antisemitism on campus…

Now, following Harvard President Claudine Gay’s and other Ivy League presidents’ disastrous testimony before the House, lawmakers in the lower chamber are launching their own efforts to prevent tax dollars from going to institutions that allow antisemitism.

House Republicans are getting behind a bill that would rescind federal funding for colleges that do not prevent anti-Semitism on their campuses. This bill has gained momentum after three top school presidents failed to openly condemn the hate movement before Congress.

The fallout from that hearing has been felt all over the country. A donor to UPenn was so outraged at its president’s testimony, that he withdrew a partnership worth $100 million. That appears to have led to President Magill’s resignation.

Harvard stood behind its president, despite growing calls for her resignation or removal. Other large donors are pulling support from Ivy League schools and it appears early enrollment is down.

American universities enjoy numerous grants and programs provided by the federal government. On top of that, they receive more government money in the form of student loans, charging high tuition fees that force Americans to get into debt.

It is likely many Americans will be on board with a bill that holds these colleges accountable.

Key Takeaways:

  • House Republicans are supporting a bill to rescind federal funding to schools that allow anti-Semitism.
  • This comes as anti-Israel and anti-Semitism sentiments spread across American campuses.
  • Donors have been pulling large sums of money from Ivy League schools, as a result.
