Far-Left Group Hammered by Top Republican – After Huge Mistake, She Plans to Shut Them Down

The government-funded radio network, NPR, has been in tumult in recent days. A 25-year veteran of the network, Uri Berliner, revealed in a scathing report how the company pushes a far-left bias.

In response, NPR suspended Berliner and threatened to fire him. That did not go over well with Americans, who were shocked to learn no Republicans worked at the company.

Donald Trump called for the NPR to lose its government funding. Many other conservatives echoed his demand. Now, a top Republican senator is taking steps to hold the NPR accountable for its heavy bias and possibly dishonest media reporting.

From Fox News:
Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., is planning to propose new legislative action that would threaten to cut National Public Radio’s (NPR) federal funding if passed, prompted by the news that it suspended an editor who went viral for exposing the outlet’s partisan uniformity in its newsroom…

She is specifically looking to prevent NPR from benefiting from public funds, due to what her office characterized as left-wing bias.

“The mainstream media has become obsessed with doing the Left’s bidding and taking down strong conservatives — and NPR has led the pack,” Blackburn said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “It makes no sense that the American people are forced to fund a propagandist left-wing outlet that refuses to represent the voices of half the country. NPR should not receive our tax dollars’.”

Sen. Blackburn from Tennessee is proposing a bill that would strip the NPR of its federal funding. The radio network receives government money through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting—a large conglomeration of public stations.

Blackburn roasted the organization as a “propagandist left-wing outlet.” According to Berliner’s article, the NPR has become obsessed with race and gender. All its top editors and executives are left-leaning Democrats, without a single conservative contributing to its editorial angle.

The Republican senator condemned the NPR for refusing to “represent the voices” of millions of conservative Americans. She demanded that it should not receive tax dollars for simply doing “the left’s bidding.”

It is unclear if Blackburn will be successful. But more and more Americans are growing to dislike or distrust the NPR. If it doesn’t take drastic steps to reform, it could lose even more listeners.

Key Takeaways:

  • Blackburn is considering legislation to defund the NPR.
  • This comes after the network was exposed for having a heavy liberal bias.
  • Blackburn wants to pass a law stripping the NPR from receiving tax dollars.
