Texas Just Protected A Major Constitutional Rights – Governor Abbott Is Just A Step Away From Signing Constitutional Carry

There’s a reason why Texas is seen as a haven for Conservatives and Republicans. They often have laws that support the Constitution.

This includes the Second Amendment, which has become one of the most hotly debated topics in Washington D.C. and around the country.

And Texas wholeheartedly supports 2A.

Governor Greg Abbott is reportedly very close to signing a new bill into law, and it will make Constitutionalists very happy.

It’s also bound to annoy gun control advocates, and left-wing politicians who think we need stricter 2A enforcement.

That won’t stop Abbott, though.

In the eyes of Texas, it’s your Constitutional right to carry, and they want to keep it that way (via The Daily Wire):

The Lone Star State is one step closer to becoming a constitutional carry state after the state Senate passed H.B. 1927.

If  Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott signs the bill into law, residents 21 years and older would be allowed to carry a firearm – either open or concealed – without a permit so long as they are not deemed a prohibited possessor.

Sen. Charles Schwertner says the bill rolls back restrictions on 2A rights.

It would essentially allow anyone 21 years and up to carry a firearm for protective purposes in public places, and without a state license.

The gun would require a holster but that’s it.

However, the bill does not change who’s legally allowed to carry or purchase a firearm. All those restrictions remain in place.

This means you still have to pass background checks, and you must get a Federal Firearms License (FFL).

As for Gov. Abbott, he’s all for it:

Bill sponsor Rep. Matt Schaefer says Abbott might sign the bill as early as this week.

And if that happens, right-wing supporters of the Constitution will celebrate the victory: this is how 2A should be treated, in their view.

Democrats around the country continue to fight for more rules and restrictions, though.

So, it really depends on state leaders at this point, and how they plan to uphold a citizen’s rights. And in Texas, the plan is clear:

Constitutional carry.

Key Takeaways:

  • Texas is about to pass a law that would make it a Constitutional Carry state.
  • The bill allows residents to carry a firearm in a holster, and without a state-issued license.
  • But it doesn’t change the rules: you still need to pass a background check, and you need a Federal Firearms License (FFL).
