When Donald Trump was president, the world respected the U.S. But that no longer seems to be the case.
For a long time, it seemed Europe and our “allies” took advantage of America’s generosity.
We were shelling out big bucks, getting little in return. Trump ended that, implementing better agreements and deals.
But today? Joe Biden seems hellbent on dismantling those good deals—returning us to a time when other countries walked all over us.
So, the 45th president is striking back.
From Fox News:
President Biden has waived sanctions on the Nord Stream pipeline spanning from Russia to Germany but former President Donald Trump expressed his distaste for Biden’s actions regarding the Russian pipeline…
Trump said that under his watch, NATO started to pay $30 billion more than usual after discovering that the United States was fitting the bill for “almost all of it.”
“We pay for their protection and they, excuse the word, they screw us on trade,” he said. “They are, in many ways, worse than China or as bad as China on trade.”
Back when Trump was president, he put a stop to a pretty bad arrangement.
America was spending billions on Germany and the rest of NATO’s military expenses.
Yet, Germany was paying Russia billions for energy. That didn’t add up.
So, Trump hit Russia with sanctions to put a stop to an oil pipeline. That helped shift the dynamics of the region—and make Europe less dependent on Russia.
Oh, and Trump also got our NATO members to pay more of their fair share.
But almost immediately, Joe Biden mangled the entire arrangement. While blocking a much-needed pipeline in the U.S., he lifted sanctions so Russia could continue screwing over Europe.
So, we are back to spending billions in Europe, while their money flows to a hostile nation.
Trump is right to criticize Joe Biden for this massive blunder. Does Joe really care more about Russia than the U.S.?
He certainly doesn’t care about our European allies, who will watch their wealth slip away to Putin.
Greedy nations could go back to hitting U.S. goods with heavy tariffs as we pay for their defense.
Doesn’t sound right, does it?
- Donald Trump criticized Biden for lifting sanctions on Russia.
- He explained that Europe benefits from our aid but “screws” us on trade.
- Biden’s move will help Putin rake in billions from energy trade.
