Many remember that, had things gone differently in 2016, we would have had a President Ted Cruz.
The Republican is considered a constitutional scholar and champion of conservative values. And many are wondering what his 2024 plans are.
Now, the Texas senator is revealing what he’s been up to.
From The Washington Examiner:
Cruz, the runner-up for the GOP nod in 2016 (the last time the party did not field an incumbent), conceded he has not ruled out mounting a second campaign — even if former President Donald Trump enters the race…
But the senator also confirmed… he will make no decision about 2024 until he knows Trump’s plans…
“The whole world will change depending on what Donald Trump decides. That’s true for every candidate. That’s true of every potential candidate.”
Sen. Cruz revealed he will make a final 2024 decision, based on what Donald Trump decides.
But the Texas senator has not been idle. He appeared in New Hampshire, shaking hands and having a beer with folks at American Legion Post 27.
That’s the kind of thing an eager presidential candidate does (New Hampshire is a long way from Texas).
So, this constitutional scholar is not sitting around, waiting for Trump to say something.
He admitted that nobody interested in running is discounting Trump’s decision. Cruz knows that if and when Trump makes his move, the “whole world will change.”
That’s for sure because it happened the last time.
But if Trump does enter the race, what will Cruz do? He still might run against him–along with other candidates.
Or he might join forces with Trump and become a formidable running mate. Many have wondered if Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will join Trump.
But Cruz has an advantage, coming from a strong red state and having years of experience battling the swamp in D.C.
What actually shakes out, time will tell.
- Cruz revealed he was waiting for Trump to make his 2024 move, before deciding.
- Ted Cruz was the 2016 GOP primary runner-up.
- He might become Trump’s running mate, instead of DeSantis.
