What’s Happening:

This week a group of climate activists entered the Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy’s office. Going by the name, the Sunrise Movement, this group of mostly teenagers confronted the Speaker’s staff. They held up signs that were demanding “climate action.”

A banner several of them held up read “The GOP Hates Gen Z.” Others were calling for the passage of the “Green New Deal.” The group demanded Speaker McCarthy to avert the looming government shutdown so Congress could fund climate programs “we desperately need.”

It appears this group is parroting climate alarmist talking points spread by progressive colleges and the media. But their methods were not at all appreciated by Capitol Police. Authorities were brought it and the Sunrise Movement learned about justice the hard way.

The group said that 18 “young people” had been arrested as a result of the protest inside McCarthy’s Capitol Hill office. In one post, they said that students from across the country had traveled to the capitol to lobby for “climate action.”

It appears these “young people” never heard of the events of January 6, 2021, when other Americans “stormed” the Capitol grounds. Members of the Sunrise Movement were arrested after they entered McCarthy’s office to protest for climate action.

It appears this group came with over 150 students from across the country to lobby for this progressive goal. Reportedly only 18 of them broke from the others to enter the Speaker’s office. They appeared to be demanding that Congress move forward with its spending bills, including something to address environmental demands.

But it is unlikely that the Republican-controlled House will devote large sums of tax dollars for “climate change.” Republicans in Washington have been deeply critical of Biden’s “green” agenda, which they say has damaged the U.S. economy.

The Sunrise Movement appears to be the latest far-left group that is employing disruptive tactics to advance its agenda. It has shut down streets to protest climate change. It is unclear if any of their methods have actually helped their cause.
