This Big State Isn’t a ‘Battleground’ Anymore – Massive 2024 Shift Shows 1 Party in Full Control

Democrats for years have outpaced Republicans when it comes to growing the voting rolls in key battleground states. Pick a state that is highly contested in each national election cycle and Democrats have bragged about how they can control turnout.

There has been a refreshing attitude adjustment for Democrats in recent years as key states have shifted in voter influence. Thanks to the radical policies and devastating performance of Biden the last few years, Republicans have gained ground to a point that liberals are running scared.

More people seem willing to leave the left and join the right in one of the biggest states in the nation. The GOP governor there highlighted the massive shift that secured the edge for Republicans.

From Fox News:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis believes Democrats don’t stand a chance in the Sunshine State going forward. This comes as reports indicate registered GOP voters now outpace Democrats by nearly 900,000.

“You’re talking about a million-plus voter registration shift,” DeSantis told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, saying that older numbers indicated Republicans were behind their Democrat adversaries by nearly 300,000 registered voters in 2018.

DeSantis credited the switch from Democrat to Republican in Florida to people from blue states that have moved to the Sunshine State. He sees former Democrats shifting to Republican “because they appreciate how Florida has done it differently from where they’re coming from.”

A liberal mainstream media outlet supported how DeSantis is interpreting the shift. A report from USA Today noted Florida’s former identity as a pillar swing state in national elections. This was highlighted in the state’s role in the 2000 presidential matchup between George W. Bush and then-Vice President Al Gore. Bush won the White House on technical interpretations of ballots that year.

“Republicans now hold the biggest advantage in voter registration either major party has held in almost four decades,” the report reads, noting that the GOP reached an 851,417-voter lead as of last month – the most significant lead by either of the two major parties since Democrats’ dominance in the late 1980s.

The concentration of Republican voters throughout the state could power a Republican surge to victory this November and, as the report suggests, could make Florida an “afterthought” as a swing state on election night.

As Republicans have gained voters, DeSantis pointed out how Democrats have lost support.

“We used to be a one-point state every election hung on: ‘How would Florida go?’ That is not true anymore, and I think that’s a good thing for the party. Florida is off the board. It is a Republican state.”

Former President Donald Trump should be considered for helping build a surge in voter enthusiasm that is swaying voters from key liberal demographics. His popularity has translated into helping Florida become an expected Republican stronghold.

Having Florida as an “afterthought” gives Trump and down-ballot Republicans more room to forge new voter gains in other battleground states. If Trump manages to hold onto his leads in key states that Biden won in the last cycle, the overall shift in battleground influence will change who sits in the White House.

Key Takeaways:

  • Voter roles surged in Florida for the GOP and shifted the state to an “afterthought.”
  • Instead of a huge battleground state, Florida turned into a Republican stronghold.
  • The massive shift in voters turning to the GOP positioned Trump for another big run.
