What’s Happening:
After three weeks of uncertainty, House Republicans selected the next Speaker of the House. After several notable Republicans failed to get the gavel, it went to Louisiana’s Mike Johnson.
Soon after winning the vote, he was installed officially as the House’s leader. Many Republicans have praised Johnson’s record and convictions. Liberals in the media melted down, accusing him of being just like the “MAGA” people they despise.
But there is one reason some on the left might really hate Johnson. He makes “no apologies” for what has shaped his worldview. And it will send many Americans cheering.
From Daily Wire:
Newly-minted House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday that the entirety of his worldview could be found if one would simply “go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it.”
Speaker Mike Johnson tonight: “Someone asked me today in the media, ‘People are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue?’ I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview.” pic.twitter.com/ylMWX1XVJy

When asked about his worldview, Speaker Johnson told people to “pick up a Bible” off the shelf and read it. He boldly stated that his worldview comes from the Bible. At a time when it seems many in American cultural have turned their backs on Biblical principles, he makes “no apologies” for embracing them.
This no doubt will come as a shock to many on the left. While some Democrats make claims about their Christian faith, many progressives consider the Bible and Christianity as part of Western civilization they want to eradicate.
Progressives and “woke” people frequently criticize the Bible and Christianity. Knowing that the House Speaker is an unapologetic Christian appears to have shaken some far-left lawmakers.
From Breitbart:
Democrats in Congress expressed their deep displeasure with Johnson securing the Speaker’s gavel on the first ballot…Similarly, after Johnson won the gavel, Rep Ilhan Omar (D-MN) labeled him a “MAGA Extremist” and wrote that his “achievements” include seeking an “abortion ban” and voting “against LGBTQ+ rights.”…
“Introducing extremist GOP Speaker nominee Mike Johnson,” wrote Ocasio-Cortez. “He was a key architect of the Jan 6th strategy to overturn the US election.”
According to many leftists in Congress, a man who believes in the Bible is an “extremist” and “insurrectionist.” Despite the United States being founded on Judeo-Christian principles, Democrats now think a Bible-believer is an “enemy” of democracy.
Instead of seeking common ground with Speaker Johnson for the good of the country, they are attacking him.
Key Takeaways:
- New House Speaker Johnson stated he bases his worldview on the Bible.
- He said he makes “no apologies” for his faith in God.
- Democrats melted down over Johnson’s victory, calling him an “extremist.”
