Hours After Disney Announces Price Hike – The Mouse House Gets a Brutal Dose of Karma

What’s Happening:

Disney has made a mess of its business the last few years by forcing unpopular cultural ideas on its viewers. People just want to enjoy classic movies and storylines without woke executives and directors trying to cram ideas down their throats.

The House of Mouse keeps trying to bleed customers for more money and the company’s actions continue to push people away. The search is on across the internet for how to stop paying skyrocketing fees for subscriptions that fewer people are watching.

From Breitbart:

Online searches of the phrase “cancel Disney Plus” have reportedly spiked after Disney announced it will hike prices for the streaming entertainment service by more than 25 percent.

The 27 percent price hike – from $10.99 to $13.99 per month – sent customers searching for a way out. People are hurting in an inflation-heavy economy. The recent spike in fees follows a similar increase last year that has pushed the monthly bill higher by 75 percent.

Such a big jump in price – again – sent internet searches through the roof. Google data showed that online searches for “cancel Disney Plus” exploded by 510 percent the day Disney announced the latest hike in fees.

Considering all the box office fails from movies Disney released in the last two years there is less incentive to sign up for this premium streaming service. Let’s be realistic, who really needs Disney movies anymore?

Disney continues to suffer financially after its woke actions have been criticized by the public and in the media. Advertising revenue for the company has fallen off, its theme parks are struggling with attendance, and households have plenty of cheaper options for in-home entertainment as Biden-fueled inflation eats up monthly budgets.

Last quarter, Disney+ lost 300,000 domestic subscribers — a troubling and ominous development for a streaming service that is less than three years old and should still be expanding its subscriber base.

Disney, which was once expanding everywhere, even laid off 7,000 workers worldwide to save money. Trying to grab more money with rate hikes hasn’t worked as searches for “cancel Disney Plus” spike with each increase.

Standard economic inflation is one thing, but an entertainment company gouging people with higher fees to pay off losses from woke movies that went bust is going too far. To right this sinking ship of fantasy entertainment, Disney should focus on producing and delivering movies that fit classic story lines. Appealing to the more traditional audience that built the House of Mouse is likely more profitable.

Key Takeaways:

  • Struggling movie maker Disney announces higher streaming rates.
  • Next rate hike will push monthly prices up by 75% in two years.
  • Disney continues to lose subscribers as more people want to cancel.
