Time and again we see the Democrats are not held to the same standards as the rest of us.
And that includes Senate leader Chuck Schumer.
We’ve seen over the years how conservatives get kicked off social media—but liberals who use much worse language get to stick around.
Republicans caught saying something “inappropriate” could lose their jobs. Democrats? They get rewarded!
I wonder what would have happened to a Republican senator is he said what Chuck just said.
He would certainly lose his social media pages. But Chuck? After a forced apology, he’s right as rain.
But I doubt you’ll be happy about what he said.
Schumer said the city “wanted to build a congregate living place for retarded children,” but that “the whole neighborhood was against it,” adding “these were harmless kids.”
The comments were quickly picked up by conservative outlets like The Daily Wire and The Post Millennial…
A Schumer spokesperson told Forbes the senator “used an inappropriate and outdated word” and is “sincerely sorry,” noting the effort was led by the AHRC, which once stood for The Association for the Help of Retarded Children.
We can argue all we want about whether or not we should use that word. But we can all agree there are many people who are offended when someone uses it.
So much so, some groups classify it as a slur, along the same lines as slurs used against racial groups.
Yet when old Chucky uses it during an online meeting, his office says it was simply an “outdated” term.
Yes, it is an outdated term. We have better words to describe people with various disabilities. A man who served in the Senate should know those words.
Why should he get off the hook for using a word six graders get in trouble for saying?
Schumer just offended millions of Americans, but he’s supposed to get away with it because he’s “sincerely sorry”?
What would happen if Ted Cruz or Rand Paul used that word during an event? We’d never hear the end of it from CNN and MSNBC. Even other Republicans would be offended.
Democrats would be trying to impeach them right now.
But because Schumer has a “D” at the end of his name, no consequences.
- Chuck Schumer got caught using an “outdated” word to address children with mental disabilities.
- Conservative outlets our outraged, but his office made excuses.
- After a forced apology, it appears the Democrat senator will face no consequences.
