Everyone with a rational conscience has tried to forget this political character but something even more dirty about him keeps going public. No one paid attention to this Joe Biden-appointed freeloader of taxpayer funds when he held his job, and now we can’t seem to get rid of him any more than a blood-sucking leech.
Just think “luggage thief” and images of this Biden crony will give you a headache. This official has been exposed once again for allegedly abusing taxpayer-funded trips and carting off thousands of dollars in stolen items in luggage that wasn’t his.
That’s what we knew when this all broke as news last fall, and now we know that Sam Brinton, former senior Department of Energy (DOE) official, was on “official” business when he allegedly committed is luggage crime. And to top it off, he was on a trip to a national security site near Las Vegas.
All the details came from internal Department of Energy (DOE) filings and expense reports obtained by watchdog group Functional Government Initiative (FGI) and shared with Fox News Digital.

“According to the documents, Brinton … traveled (in early July 2022) to the Nevada National Security Site for an unspecified meeting and site visit.”
The trip cost taxpayers more money in just a few days than many Americans earn in a month.

In addition to arriving on July 6, 2022, Brinton stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Las Vegas Strip and departed on July 9, 2022. Overall, the total cost of the four-day trip was estimated to be $1,951.50, a DOE expense report filed in August 2022 showed.
Brinton was later charged by Las Vegas prosecutors with grand larceny for allegedly stealing a suitcase with a total estimated worth of $3,670.
But this Democrat didn’t have to worry about any jail time, you know, because he’s with Biden. Brinton, who identifies as a non-binary gender-fluid person, pleaded guilty to various charges. He was ordered to pay restitution and given a 180-day jail sentence that he didn’t have to serve. The judge in the case said he just needed to “stay out of trouble.”
This is after Brinton was not sentenced to any jail time for allegedly stealing more than $2,300 in luggage at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Sept. 16. The case of Brinton wasting taxpayer dollars and committing crimes has Republican lawmakers up in arms about national security.
Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., the chairman of the Senate Republican Conference and ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, wants an investigation into Brinton and other questionable Biden administration appointees.

“It is clear as day that felons should not hold security clearances,” Barrasso told Fox News Digital on Dec. 14. “When people are appointed to critical positions with important national security responsibilities, Americans must be confident they can be trusted. The department must launch a thorough investigation into the vetting process.”
How many more politically appointed, unvetted, and unknown people are we going to allow the president to appoint to sensitive jobs that impact national security? Republicans need to keep pressing federal agencies to provide a sound vetting process that keeps the country safe. The administration shouldn’t be appointing anyone because that person checks off a box on the list to appease political supporters.
