What’s Happening:
The world has watched as Russia attacks Ukraine in an unprovoked invasion. Many believe Putin did this, thanks to Joe Biden’s failed leadership abroad.
World leaders have made big boasts, but because Biden refuses to lead, none of them seem interested in stopping Putin (aside from a few neighboring nations who are taking in refugees and sending weapons/supplies).
Ukrainians have been forced to fight Russia alone. And many of them have shown the kind of spirit and determination that would put many an American to shame. We learned early on about a group of soldiers who defied Russia on Snake Island. They were taken captive as Russia tried to secure the strategic island.
But now, we are learning that Ukrainian forces have not given up. And even took down a Russian ship. From Biz Pac Review:
Ukrainians reported on Tuesday that they had sunk a Russian warship early Monday morning local time after it attacked Snake Island, taking 13 border guards captive who, in no uncertain terms, told Putin’s forces to “Go f*** yourself!” during the standoff.
“Did we get it?” one soldier asked. “I don’t see it yet,” another soldier replied.
“Look, we got the warship,” a soldier exclaimed. “It’s on fire!”
“We f***ing hit them!” a Ukrainian soldier is overheard saying on a recording of the conflict, according to the Times of London.
According to reports and a video, Ukrainians fighting Russian forces on Snake Island managed to sink a Russian warship. The video shows a strong plume of smoke coming from the ship as Ukrainians shout that they hit it. Reports indicate a volley of rockets hit the ship and sunk it. The winning blow may have come from a land-based outfit in Odesa, which is bracing for an attack.
Stories of unlikely wins have been coming out of Ukraine from the beginning. It is a testament to the nation’s resolve, as well as the resolve of its president. They are facing overwhelming odds and a nation much larger than itself. But they refuse to give in—fighting until all options are expended.
You have to wonder why so many nations sit on the sidelines as this is happening? In the past, the U.S. and our allies would have moved quickly to stop this invasion. We’re not talking about a war, but decisive steps that would have punished Putin for such a shocking attack. But today, we cannot be sure if Ukraine will survive this invasion forever. Russia is not only well-equipped but undaunted by sanctions thanks to its alliance with China.
Key Takeaways:
- Ukrainian forces sunk a Russian warship attacking Snake Island.
- This is the same island 13 soldiers bravely defied Russia early in the invasion.
- The missile that sunk the ship came from Odesa, a port city bracing for an attack.
