Report: Illegal Migrant Tries to Strike Officer – She Ends Up Getting Multiple Charges

What’s Happening:

Sanctuary cities are dealing with a host of problems after officials in these urban centers decided to openly invite illegal immigrants to move in. Offers to help out without judgment have been accepted and big cities are facing high costs that are heaped onto the shoulders of taxpayers.

Many sanctuary cities are rethinking their open invitations but not before things appear to be getting worse. One report shows how some of the immigrant “guests” feel about authority in these big cities. The response is more like biting the hand that feeds you and less like thanking the hosts for the opportunity.

From the Daily Caller:

An illegal immigrant in New York City was arrested Aug. 31 after allegedly slapping a police officer who was attempting to confiscate her unregistered motor bike, reports say.

The Big Apple is a pretty congested city with lots of rules to help keep people from cluttering the streets and sidewalks to the point people can’t get around. Some people just don’t care about the rules and think they can do what they want. City officials have to step up and correct those who don’t follow the rules.

That means city officers often get placed into tough situations where lawbreakers can get violent. The example reported by the New York Post alleges that this illegal immigrant allegedly struck the officer “with an open hand” Thursday night. She was charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and harassment after allegedly striking the officer.

According to news reports, the incident reportedly began when law enforcement officials with the NYPD arrived at the Stratford Arms Hotel, a residence hall for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA). The hotel was turned into a migrant shelter. Officers arrived to confiscate nine bicycles as well as a motorcycle and a scooter that had been illegally chained to a pole outside the building, the report stated.

Rules were broken. People complained. Officers responded. This led to a confrontation between the illegal immigrant and officers trying to take her into custody and then the alleged strike to the face. The person arrested was released without bail, per New York City rules, and given a court date. This all after this person was arrested earlier this summer for a separate alleged assault.

The Stratford Arms and its tenants have been a source of concern from nearby residents who have complained about noise, litter, and public disruptions. Playing music and racing motorbikes along the streets are some of the complaints to city officials.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sanctuary city faces ongoing complaints about illegal immigrants.
  • Neighborhood residents say issues have increased thanks to sanctuary status.
  • Illegal immigrant allegedly hits officer then released without bail.
