Popular Red State Gov Breaks Massive Record – This Could Be a 2024 Game-Changer

What’s Happening:

A few years ago, an unknown Republican candidate secured an upset win that shocked the political landscape. In a historically blue state, a Republican took the governor’s mansion. Since then, he has been making waves, flipping Democrats’ agenda on its head.

This year, the state will have another off-cycle election. The fate of both chambers of its legislature will be decided. Should Republicans take control, major leftist policies will be reversed. And it will surely make Democrats in many other states grow worried.

With just a few weeks before these critical elections, the governor has been raising funds for his party. And he’s been successful. So successful, he’s broken records. Now, some are wondering what this could mean for 2024.

From Fox News:
Gov. Glenn Youngkin is hauling in big bucks ahead of November’s closely watched legislative elections in Virginia as the Republican governor aims for total GOP control of the state government.

Youngkin’s shattering of fundraising records in the commonwealth is sure to create even more buzz among some in the GOP donor class who want the popular governor to consider a late entry into the 2024 Republican presidential nomination race.

Governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin, is breaking records in his fundraising for the upcoming election cycle. He has brought in $4.4 million in just 48 hours, for the Spirit of Virginia PAC. That brings his total to $7.4 million for the final quarter of fundraising.

This is significant because, until recently, Virginia was considered a deep-blue state. Pundits would have never predicted that a Republican would be elected governor in 2021–and continue to see success in the ensuing years.

But this record haul could be a sign that Virginia voters are firmly behind Youngkin. The Republican won an upset victory after voters were outraged by various scandals connected to Democrats. Voters accused Democrats of covering up reports of assault in schools; the former governor was blasted for his seeming support of post-birth abortions.

Gov. Youngkin’s haul is almost five times greater than the previous record, which had been set by a Democrat. This could be a major sea-change in the state. If his fundraising is any indication, Youngkin might be responsible for flipping Virginia into a conservative-majority state.

To do that in just a few years has pundits talking. Some are suggesting Youngkin might use this victory as a stepping stone to a 2024 presidential bid. Youngkin would be a “late-entry,” but he might be able to ride momentum into a nomination.

Youngkin has not confirmed presidential aspirations, but his name has frequently been floated around as a future national Republican leader.

Key Takeaways:

  • Youngkin of Virginia brought in a record haul for the upcoming election.
  • He raised over $7 million in the final quarter; $4.4 million in just two days.
  • The state’s legislature could be flipped red in this year’s election.
