Parent Claims Wisconsin School Violated the Constitution, Accused of Passing Over His Needs Due to Race

Woke policies are backfiring, and it’s the kids who are paying the price. Democrats love to talk about equality, yet their policies often do the exact opposite.

Instead of treating everyone fairly, they divide people by race, gender, or some other identity marker. Isn’t that the textbook definition of bigotry?

This hypocrisy is especially hurting in our public schools. Woke agendas have taken root. Instead of focusing on lifting every child, they’re prioritizing some kids over others based on skin color.

It’s a system that’s not only unfair but also harmful, especially to children who desperately need help.

From Fox News:
A Wisconsin parent is mulling legal action over a situation where she alleges her son was passed over being given the extra learning attention he needed due to language on the school’s website that says it prioritizes additional help for students based on race…

“Mrs. Decker’s child, who suffers from dyslexia, has received different (and less favorable) services because he is white,” the letter states. “If he was Black, Hispanic, or Native American, Mrs. Decker’s son would have been treated more favorably and received different services.”

Race-Based Priorities in Green Bay Schools

Case in point: Colbey Decker, a Wisconsin mom, is standing up to her son’s school district for what she calls blatant discrimination.

Her son, who has dyslexia and needs extra help with reading, was waitlisted for services. Why? Because he’s white.

According to the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL), the Green Bay Area School District explicitly prioritizes extra reading support for students based on race.

Their “King Elementary School Success Plan” singles out Black, Hispanic, and Native American students as priority groups for additional resources. Decker’s son, unfortunately, didn’t make the cut.

Decker discovered this policy on the school’s website and was horrified. When she asked school officials if her son was receiving less help because of his race, she got a shocking answer.

The principal enthusiastically explained the district’s “priority groups” and their efforts to serve these students first. Imagine being a parent and hearing that your child is less of a priority because of the color of their skin. It’s unthinkable.

The Legal Battle Begins

Decker isn’t taking this lying down. With the help of WILL attorneys, she’s demanding that the district rescind this discriminatory policy.

The law, after all, is on her side. Both the U.S. Constitution and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act prohibit discrimination based on race, even if it’s disguised as “helping underserved communities.”

WILL attorney Cory Brewer called the policy “morally and legally troubling.” He pointed out that every child deserves to be treated equally, regardless of their race.

“Special treatment based on skin color has no place in our schools,” Brewer said. He’s urging the district to adopt a colorblind approach and provide Decker’s son with the support he needs.

The district, predictably, denies having a race-based policy. In a statement, they claimed the language in the School Success Plan is not official policy but rather a “guideline” for improvement.

Woke Policies Hurt Everyone

This isn’t just a Green Bay problem—it’s a nationwide issue. Woke policies that emphasize identity over merit are seeping into schools, workplaces, and even government programs.

They’re often framed as compassionate, but they’re anything but. Dividing people by race, gender, or other identity factors creates resentment and inequality.

And let’s not forget the long-term damage. Policies like these teach kids that their worth is tied to their identity, not their character or effort. It’s a dangerous message that undermines the principles of fairness and hard work.

What Needs to Change

The solution is simple: treat every child as an individual. Instead of focusing on identity groups, focus on needs.

If a child is struggling with reading, give them the help they need—no matter their race or background.

Decker’s story should be a wake-up call for parents across America. Woke policies aren’t just theoretical debates; they have real consequences for real people.

And when those consequences hurt children, it’s time to draw a line in the sand.

Key Takeaways:

  • Woke Policies Divide: Policies that prioritize resources based on race are unfair and discriminatory.
  • A mother in Wisconsin is accusing the school of neglecting her son’s needs because he is white.
  • The school board’s website shows it prioritizes black, Hispanic, or Native American children.
