When leftist Lori Lightfoot became mayor of Chicago, the already embattled city took a nose dive. The far-left Democrat all but encouraged violent crime. Her radical policies rewarded criminals and punished law-abiding citizens.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Chicago has been such a train wreck under her, tens of thousands of Americans have fled the city and state for conservative locales. Now, the leftist is facing the music. She is up for re-election… but there is some very bad news.

Incumbent Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot is running for her second term, but she faces a whopping eight challengers — making it almost certain that a runoff will be necessary. Some of her opponents have been beating her in recent polls, like this one Townhall reported in January that had the incumbent in fourth place. Since last month, Lightfoot’s standing has improved slightly, but she’s still not in the lead according to a recent average of polls.
A whopping nine Democrats are running for mayor in the deeply blue city. It is very unlikely one of them will get enough votes to win. Meaning, the top two will go head-to-head in a runoff later this year. But Lightfoot might not be one of them, given recent polls.
In recent polls, the incumbent was doing so badly, she came in fourth. Even recent averages of the polls show her losing, a close second to one of the newcomers. This shouldn’t surprise us one bit. While Chicago continues to sink under the weight of unchecked corruption and liberalism, Lightfoot has distinguished herself for being grossly incompetent.
She has done nothing about the surge of crime that has been rocking the city. She was the only mayor to send a police raid into a church during COVID, something not even God-hating Gov. Newsom did.
Lightfoot has presided over some of the worst years Chicago has ever seen. Whenever a shooting takes place, she blames a lack of gun control. She clearly doesn’t know that Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.
What’s truly hilarious is how she can’t really blame Republicans for her failures. Chicago is largely Democrat-run, in a state that is becoming increasingly blue. As Chicago and Illinois crumble, Lightfoot can’t dodge blame by pointing to conservatives.
Nope, all the failures of her corrupt city fall on her. And, it seems, she will finally lose her seat soon.
