Kevin McCarthy Sets Washington Swamp on Fire – The Speaker Just Moved to Pass Controversial Rules Package

What’s Happening:

The swamp was more than happy to watch Republicans fight over the Speakership vote. The longer the drama dragged out, the longer the left had to keep pushing its radical, socialist spending spree. But they got the bad news last Friday when the GOP came together and elected Kevin McCarthy as the next Speaker.

Despite what some critics say, McCarthy is no friend to the left. And soon after he got the gavel, he began implementing Republicans-requested changes to the House rules. The days of Pelosi’s reckless spending are long gone. And the swamp is being rocked by these new rules.

From Fox News:

The package’s proposals include capping spending at the 2022 level for the next 10 years, which is expected to result in significant cuts to existing programs…

Additional changes to existing rules that are in the new package include requiring 72 hours’ notice prior to voting on new legislation, requiring a three-fifths supermajority in order to pass federal income tax rate increases, and the formation of a task force to address House ethics reform.

Wow. Democrats are not going to like these new rules. McCarthy is proposing major changes that will cut off the swamp’s access to tax dollars. One of the biggest changes is a rule that will cap spending at the 2022 level for the next ten years.

That will mean big cuts to existing programs the left loves to pump with cash. It means an end to the money-laundering scheme Congress uses to reward special interest groups and lobbyists with American dollars.

On top of that, McCarthy is setting limits to prevent abuse of power. The House will require 72 hours’ notice before voting on new bills, to prevent last-minute, 11th-hour schemes. McCarthy will also require a 3/5 supermajority before the House will pass increases to federal taxes.

After all that, McCarthy is also requiring a new task force to handle House ethics reforms. This could mean even more changes to House rules, limiting how congressmen can behave while in office.

No America will deny that House members enjoy all kinds of benefits, because of their position. More than a few have been accused of ethics violations, but never face punishment. All that could change, if McCarthy gets these new rules passed.

Key Takeaways:

  • Speaker McCarthy is proposing new rules for the House.
  • The rules include capping spending and limiting last-minute legislation.
  • This comes after former Speaker Pelosi spent trillions of U.S. tax dollars.
