Hunter Slammed with Even Worse News – Law Expert Reveals the Truth about His Jail Sentence

Republicans have been working to expose alleged crimes related to the Biden family. Years of investigations continue as GOP leadership pushes to find evidence that Joe Biden is worthy of impeachment.

Any impeachment or criminal conviction of the president is still to be decided, but one Biden family member has been convicted. Hunter Biden, the president’s son, was convicted on three felonies related to gun charges.

Hunter Biden may have expected a different outcome based on his father’s status, but one legal expert believes the president’s son could spend time behind bars. George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley believes a federal judge may deliver a harsh sentence.

From the Daily Caller:
“I think the odds are that he will not get jailed, but this was an open and shut case and this defendant put this court through this trial,” Turley told Fox News host John Roberts. “Some judges actually do not look kindly upon that, that if you put everyone through a trial on a case that seems strict liability, you check the box and it was false, some of them may feel you have to do a little time in jail even if it’s a brief stint.”

Turley relayed that Hunter’s defense “by challenging overwhelming evidence of guilt” may not be a favorable position on sentencing day.

Biden was indicted in September and pleaded not guilty in October for three felony gun charges related to his purchase of a .38-caliber revolver. He was convicted this week of lying to a federally licensed firearms dealer, making a false claim on a federal firearms background check form, and being in possession of an illegally obtained firearm.

Turley stated that Hunter Biden’s defense strategy centered on “jury nullification.” He also highlighted the “sizable Biden contingent” in the courtroom, including First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, who was there from the start of the trial on June 3.

Turley noted that the defense strategy fell apart quickly, and the jury ultimately convicted Hunter Biden.

“The defenses that [defense attorney Abbe] Lowell put up in the opening argument collapsed within 48 hours,” Turley said. “The prosecutors just made mincemeat out of these arguments, and there was a series of them, all of them implausible…”

This strategy of trying to get the jury to ignore the evidence obviously didn’t work, as Hunter is facing up to 25 years in prison for the convictions and up to $750,000 in fines.

Key Takeaways:

  • Legal expert said Hunter Biden may be sent to jail for “putting everyone through a trial.”
  • Law professor Jonathan Turley said the judge may not look favorably on the conviction.
  • Turley said there was “overwhelming” evidence of guilt that Hunter knew about before the trial.
