The Democrat and Republican primary races are already buttoned up. Joe Biden has secured the Democrat nomination. And Donald Trump has secured enough delegates to be the GOP nominee. The 2024 general election will, in many ways, be a rematch of the 2020 election.
That means voters will have to choose between the same two major candidates as last time—unless they opt for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. instead.
Joe Biden has been underwater in his approval for many years. He is facing an exodus of black, Hispanic, and young voters. And many moderates do not want Donald Trump returning to office. So, a man in Texas has decided to launch his own bid. And he changed his name to “send a message.”
From The Independent:
A Texas man has legally changed his name to “Literally Anybody Else” and has launched a bid for the 2024 presidential election.Dustin Ebey, 35, said he changed his name so that he could express his dissatisfaction with the current presidential candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“It’s not necessarily about me as a person, but it’s about literally anybody else as an idea,” the Dallas resident told news outlet WFAA88.
A man named Dustin Ebey from Texas launched a presidential bid. He changed his name to “Literally Anybody Else” as part of his campaign agenda. Ebey claims he did this to send a message to the current candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
It seems that Ebey does not want either man in the Oval Office. And his name change suggests that he’d rather have anyone else than those two. Instead of backing a third-party candidate like Cornell West or RFK, he changed his name in what appears to be a bad joke.
Ebey claimed there “should be some outlet” for people like him who don’t like the two-party system. Again, he seems to be forgetting that several other candidates are also running for public office.
Did Ebey change his name and launch a presidential campaign, simply because he was ignorant of third-party candidates?
Well, when you are dumb enough to change your name to “Literally Anybody Else,” I’d say yes.
It is possible Ebey will win a handful of votes by accident if voters decide to write his new name in protest.
Key Takeaways:
- A man in Texas is running for president named “Literally Anybody Else.”
- Dustin Ebey changed his name as a way of complaining about Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
- Ebey was apparently unaware that other people were running for president.
