You can say one thing about Democrats—they’re never lazy.
They’re always working up new ways to buy votes and implement their socialist plans in America. They just won’t relent, and sometimes it makes you wonder if they really believe in the junk they’re selling to the masses.
And so Republicans have to be even more relentless in implementing commonsense laws that help everyone and lift the economy, rather than help the little guy for a moment and then leave them worse off in the long run.
One Republican governor is doing just that, going against the grain of the nation, and taking down Democrats screaming.
The Daily Wire reports:
“The state of Maine is bucking the nationwide push to raise the minimum wage as it considers lowering the recent increase the state implemented. On January 1 the minimum wage was raised to $10 an hour, but a bill proposed by Gov. Paul LePage, LD 1757, would lower it by 50 cents in June.
“LePage has stated that increasing the wage quickly hurts small businesses, catalyzing reduced hours and job losses. The state’s minimum wage was increased from $7.50 to $9 an hour in 2017.”
Business grows and employment expands when current and would-be businesspersons see opportunities to generate profits. When the government raises those costs, employment is hampered and welfare assistance rolls expand.
“The bill states it affects the minimum wage by “reducing the minimum wage from $10 per hour to $9.50 per hour beginning June 1, 2018.”
Among other moves, it also establishes a “training” minimum wage for those under 18 years of age.
This is a move in the right direction.
However, the correct move would be to abolish the minimum wage altogether. It is impossible to live even in the most austere conditions solely on a job paying minimum wage. At least not without welfare benefits. So it has no point.
Don’t tell the Democrats that though. Senator Bernie Sanders and others support a federally-mandated “living wage” for all. This would far exceed current minimum wage laws.
So the minimum wage only has propaganda value. The left uses it to show alleged proof that they are the champions of the working class. That without them “sweatshops,” and even slave-labor would be the rule. A vote against a Democrat is a gift to greedy big business, so we are to believe.
This is just class warfare. Lenin brought into the 21st century with different names and a different approach.
Freedom and prosperity demand that these lies of the left be defeated.
