What’s Happening:

So far, there are a number of Republicans running for the 2024 primary. Donald Trump is the far and away leader. But anything can happen before voting begins. One surprising candidate is Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman known as the anti-woke CEO.

Ramaswamy has to contend with big names like Trump and Nikki Haley. But, thanks to his outsider status, he can make suggestions that can really rock the boat. His latest demand could change voting forever. But I’m guessing plenty of Americans are on board with it.

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will announce a proposal on Thursday that would act as an amendment to the United States Constitution and raise the national voting age from 18 to 25, according to Fox News…

However, Ramaswamy said that the current constitutional voting age would still apply to Americans that are able to pass the civics test immigrants take when becoming citizens, as well as those that serve their country as either a first responder or in the military.

Well, this is interesting! Democrats are trying to lower the voting age, so dumb teenagers can screw up our elections. But Ramaswamy is calling for an amendment that will raise the official voting to 25.

He believes that only informed citizens should be voting. Raising the age to 25 would eliminate most high school students and many college students. Voters age 25 and older are more likely already working, paying taxes, and carrying responsibilities on their shoulders.

Perhaps they have a better idea of who should represent us, than teenagers?

Ramaswamy doesn’t want to bar 18 years old from voting, though, if they can prove they know what they’re talking about. Americans that can pass the same civics test given to immigrants will become eligible, as well as Americans who served in the military or as first responders.

Not a bad plan, when you think about it. Years ago, young people protested, demanding to vote at 18. Their argument was that if 18 year old can be drafted and die for their country, then why can’t they vote?

But we haven’t had a draft in decades. And most 18 years olds are not serving in the Armed Forces. Perhaps we need to re-evaluate our voting age.
