Illegal immigrants have been flooding into the country at record levels since Joe Biden took office. His policies provide free food, housing, education, and medical care for millions who have jumped the southern border.
All these benefits are paid for by U.S. taxpayers who often can’t receive the same services. Veterans often fall into that category: men and women who have paid their time, health, and taxes, only to be forgotten by many. According to Republicans in Congress, what has happened to them as illegals flood the country is unacceptable.
So top congressional Republicans introduced a measure to exclude illegal immigrants from Veteran Affairs healthcare benefits. The legislation is called the No VA Resources for Illegal Aliens Act, according to the Washington Examiner.
The legislation was spurred on after Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) questioned a Biden administration official over the possibility of the VA providing services to illegal immigrants.
From The Washington Examiner:
“Joe Biden is putting illegal immigrants over America’s veterans,” Tuberville said in a statement. “It is outrageous. Our veterans should not be forced to wait in long lines at VA medical centers and clinics to get the care they EARNED while illegal immigrants waltz across our open border and get taxpayer-funded healthcare they NEVER earned.”
Tuberville, who served as a Marine, put the blame squarely on Biden’s back. He wants the U.S. government to live up to its promises to veterans.
“Joe Biden’s failed border policies have created a humanitarian and national security crisis. Now it appears he’s taking resources away from our veterans to facilitate healthcare for illegal migrants,” he said. “As a Marine, I believe any dollar taken away from a veteran is a promise broken to those who served.”
Tuberville was joined in introducing the legislation by Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL), chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, and Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Reps. Keith Self (R-TX), Jack Bergman (R-MI), Scott Franklin (R-FL), and Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) who co-sponsored the legislation.
Key Takeaways:
- Congressional Republicans make move to stop Biden’s giveaways to illegal immigrants.
- GOP senators and representatives team up to protect veterans’ benefits and services.
