Washington bureaucrats have a long history of avoiding consequences. They hide behind badges, security clearances, and mountains of paperwork. The swamp protects its own.
But sometimes, even the mightiest government agencies can’t keep their secrets buried forever. The walls have ears. Whistleblowers emerge. And suddenly, what happens in the shadows gets dragged into the sunlight.
The FBI, under new Director Kash Patel, has begun investigating explosive allegations that could shake the bureau to its core.
A whistleblower has come forward with claims that former FBI Director James Comey personally ordered a covert “honeypot” operation to infiltrate Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
The Whistleblower’s Bombshell
According to a protected disclosure provided to the House Judiciary Committee, Comey allegedly directed an “off-the-books” investigation targeting then-candidate Trump shortly after he announced his presidential run in June 2015.
The whistleblower, an FBI employee, claimed that Comey “personally knew” and “personally directed” the operation, which reportedly involved two female FBI undercover agents who were inserted into high levels of the Trump campaign.
From ‘Fox News’:
“The whistleblower claimed two agents were inserted into the high levels of the campaign and were directed to act as ‘honeypots’ and travel with Trump and his campaign staff. However, the investigation was allegedly closed because a media outlet obtained a photograph of one of the agents and was about to publish it. The whistleblower said they observed one or more employees being directed to never discuss the operation with anyone, including those involved in the operation.”
These female agents were allegedly instructed to act as “honeypots” – intelligence terminology for operatives who use romantic or sexual interest to extract information from targets – while traveling with Trump and his campaign staff.
The Washington Times reports that one undercover agent was later transferred to the CIA, potentially removing her as a witness.
The other reportedly received a promotion and now holds a senior position in a major FBI field office. How convenient.
Comey’s Secret “Honeypot” Scheme
This alleged operation was separate from the better-known “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation that examined claims of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign. According to the whistleblower, the covert operation was conducted without creating official case files in FBI systems. Nothing suspicious about that!
The operation was reportedly shut down when a major newspaper obtained a photograph of one of the undercover agents.
FBI officials allegedly prevented the publication by falsely claiming the person was an informant whose life would be endangered by exposure.
According to the Daily Mail, the undercover agents allegedly targeted campaign adviser George Papadopoulos specifically, who became a central figure in early efforts to scrutinize the Trump operation.
The whistleblower disclosure suggests that employees involved were instructed never to discuss the operation – which the whistleblower interpreted as a threat. So much for transparency in government.
Accountability Coming to Washington
FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino are now reportedly searching for the former undercover employees as part of their investigation into these claims.
When sworn in as FBI director last week, Patel promised to rebuild trust in the agency and end what he saw as the politicization of the bureau.
“The politicization of our justice system has eroded public trust — but that ends today,” Patel told Fox News Digital. “Let good cops be cops. And rebuild trust in the FBI.”
Patel previously served as the chief investigator for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. During that investigation, he led efforts to uncover alleged FISA abuse and exposed what he characterized as the FBI and DOJ’s unlawful actions before federal court.
The FBI has declined to comment on these allegations when contacted by media outlets, simply stating: “The FBI has no comment.” Shocking.
