Federal Judge Drops Gavel On Democrat Governor Wolf – Overturns His ‘Unconstitutional’ Restrictions On Your Freedoms

Many state governors enacted strict laws and guidelines during the pandemic, all designed for the public’s safety. These included closing businesses and social distancing rules.

However, many citizens have railed against the strictest of these policies. And some lawmakers believe a few governors overstepped their authority, and abused their emergency powers.

Now, one governor is facing the wrong end of a federal judge’s gavel.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf adopted some of the more severe restrictions during the pandemic, and he was recently taken to court over these actions.

While some residents likely believe the Democrat leader was acting in the state’s best interests, U.S. District Judge William Stickman IV said Wolf was still guilty.

From The Hill:

A federal judge ruled on Monday that Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D) coronavirus orders, which shut down the state, closed businesses and limited gatherings, were unconstitutional.

Stickman, appointed by President Donald Trump, did agree that Wolf and Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Rachel Levine had the “good intention of addressing a public health emergency.”

But that wasn’t enough to sway Stickman from a guilty verdict.

In the end, he decided that Wolf and Levine “violated and continue to violate the First Amendment right to freedom of assembly and the due process and equal protection clauses of the 14th Amendment.”

The judge added:

There is no question that this Country has faced, and will face, emergencies of every sort.

But the solution to a national crisis can never be permitted to supersede the commitment to individual liberty that stands as the foundation of the American experiment.

The lawsuit was filed by four PA counties, three state representatives, and seven businesses and their owners.

And the result is a victory for personal freedoms and the constitution, as right-wing lawmakers and politicians likely believe.

This isn’t the only lawsuit directed at a governor for overstepping authority and abusing emergency power, either.

Currently, there’s a petition against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer that demands she be stripped of her emergency powers; the petition would repeal a law passed in 1945.

Across the nation, many are questioning the severity of certain lockdown orders. And we’ve already seen several cases in court, with more to come.

Key Takeaways:

  • A federal judge has ruled that Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s pandemic restrictions were “unconstitutional.”
  • He said no crisis should “supersede the commitment to individual liberty.”
  • Wolf isn’t the only politician facing lawsuits or citizen backlash for overly strict pandemic rules and guidelines.
