If you haven’t been following along, the battle between the GOP and the FBI has kicked into overdrive in recent weeks.
House Republicans have been demanding evidence from the FBI regarding President Joe Biden’s alleged bribery scheme, and the FBI has continually rejected the request.
This has led to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) hitting FBI Director Christopher Wray with contempt of Congress charges, which is an unprecedented step in this ongoing investigation.
And now, the FBI has just admitted that in fact, the “smoking gun” exists.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Wray held a meeting on Wednesday of this week, when Comer confronted the FBI boss about the document in question.
Up to this point, some Democrat leaders have questioned if there’s any document – or any hard evidence – at all that would support the GOP’s accusation against Biden.
But now it’s confirmed (from Breitbart):
The FBI confirmed the existence of an informant file the bureau refuses to provide Congress that allegedly links President Joe Biden to a $5 million bribery scheme, a confirmation the Justice Department previously did not deny, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) revealed Wednesday.
Comer and FBI Director Christopher Wray conducted a scheduled meeting Wednesday in which the bureau chief confirmed the file’s existence.
The file allegedly details an arrangement involving an exchange of money for policy decisions between now-President Biden and a foreign national.
Despite this, the FBI still won’t give the unclassified file to Congress. The Committee had even issued a subpoena for the file multiple times this year.
But the document is certainly real; Comer said in a statement that Wray “confirmed the existence of the FD-1023 form alleging then-Vice President Biden engaged in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national.”
While Director Wray – after a month of refusing to even acknowledge that the form existed – has offered to allow us to see the documents in person at FBI headquarters, we have been clear that anything short of producing these documents to the House Oversight Committee is not in compliance with the subpoena.
If the FBI fails to hand over the FD-1023 form as required by the subpoena, the House Oversight Committee will begin contempt of Congress proceedings.
The Biden family business has been under heavy scrutiny for years, as has Joe’s son Hunter, who has been the target of a long-running probe involving his overseas dealings.
The last update alleged that the Biden clan raked in at least $10 million from various business schemes in China and Romania. All told, 9 members of the Biden family benefited from these deals.
For the record, it’s not unusual for high-ranking politicians to have financial interests overseas.
However, there are plenty of rules and laws about this sort of thing, and Republicans contend that Joe Biden broke several of them. This includes the bombshell bribery accusation.
Now, even if the FBI won’t provide the evidence, we know it exists — and it makes people wonder why the agency wants to keep it hidden.
- House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said FBI Director Christopher Wray confirmed the existence of a major piece of evidence.
- Wray admitted the FD-1023 form did exist, and the GOP says it accuses Biden of a criminal bribery scheme.
- Reports claim the Biden family brought in $10M in questionable overseas dealings.
