DeSantis Throws Cold Water on McCarthy Deal – Issues Major ‘Bankruptcy’ Warning

What’s Happening:

This week, House Speaker McCarthy worked out a deal with Joe Biden over the debt ceiling. McCarthy celebrated over the news, claiming he scored many wins for Republicans. But the deal is not done yet until Congress passes a bill and gets it signed.

And with only days before default, they’ll have to move fast.

This might be a big win for the country, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Republican candidate for president, Ron DeSantis, threw cold water on McCarthy’s victory. And he reminded Americans of the trouble we’re in, thanks to socialist-spending Joe Biden.

From Just the News:

“Prior to this deal, our country was careening towards bankruptcy, and after this deal, our country will still be careening towards bankruptcy,” DeSantis told the morning news show “Fox & Friends.” […]

DeSantis said the problem with the deal is it did little to reverse the massive amounts of spending that got added to the federal budget during the pandemic, making only minor reductions to trillions of annual new spending since 2020.

While the D.C. swamp is rejoicing over this deal (because it will let them keep borrowing money from our children’s futures), DeSantis reminded America we are still “careening toward bankruptcy.”

He explained that the deal doesn’t slow down spending. It will allow Biden to spend another $4 trillion in the next year and a half. That’s a tremendous amount of money to burn in a short amount of time.

DeSantis was critical of the deal because it does nothing to address the massive debt America created since COVID. The U.S. government spent trillions to “beat” this virus and has yet to slow down the runaway spending.

Democrats don’t seem to care that they are mortgaging our children’s futures. They will keep spending like there’s no tomorrow. Joe Biden will be long gone before his reckless spending hurts the U.S. But many of us will still be here. So will our children and grandchildren.

DeSantis seems to be the only voice of reason in this discussion. But sadly, things will only get worse until Joe Biden is evicted from the White House.

Key Takeaways:

  • Ron DeSantis criticized the debt ceiling deal between Biden and McCarthy.
  • He warned the U.S. is careening towards bankruptcy, thanks to Biden’s spending.
  • The governor explained the deal does not address the trillions spent since 2020.
