DeSantis Cracks Down on Pro-Hamas Students – Ron Just Sent Florida Colleges 1 Fiery Order

What’s Happening:

Debate is raging across America regarding the recent Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel. People are strongly opposing one side or the other with more people than expected sympathizing with the terrorists.

Colleges and universities have been a hotbed of sympathizers for years. The latest elitist intellectual stream of anger against Israel and not the terrorists has reached a boiling point.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has had enough of students ranting and raving on state campuses supporting Hamas’ Operation Al-Aqsa Flood terrorist attacks against Israel two weeks ago. The governor has ordered a crackdown on certain student groups he says have violated Florida law.

From The Daily Wire:
The governor directed Ray Rodrigues, chancellor of the State University System of Florida, to send notices to the University of Florida and the University of South Florida notifying them that they must deactivate their chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

In a letter to the presidents of the universities Rodrigues states that it is a felony to “knowingly provide material support… to a designated foreign terrorist organization…” The letter points to the National Students for Justice in Palestine (National SJP) releasing a “toolkit” which refers to Operation Al-Aqsa Flood as “the resistance” and clearly states: “Palestinian students in exile are PART of this movement, not in solidarity with this movement.”

“Here, National SJP has affirmatively identified it is part of the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood—a terrorist led attack,” the letter continued, later adding: “Based on the National SJP’s support of terrorism, in consultation with Governor DeSantis, the student chapters must be deactivated.”

DeSantis made it clear that actions on these state campuses will be watched for further violations of the law. The letter goes on to state that Florida will be “using all tools at our disposal to crack down on campus demonstrations that delve beyond protected First Amendment speech into harmful support for terrorist groups.”

Chanting slogans of defiance and hate may be normal for liberal campuses of higher education, but this is different than simply opposing a government’s economic policy. As Rodrigues said in his letter, Hamas, launched an unprovoked attack on Israel that killed babies, women, and elderly. The death total to date is approximately 1,400 Israelis killed, including 31 American citizens.

Anything less than condemnation for terrorist actions is not acceptable. No college student group should be allowed to support an organization such as Hamas which has been designated by the United States as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Key Takeaways:

  • Pro Hamas students in Florida face a crackdown on college campuses.
  • Florida Gov. DeSantis calls out student organizations as potential lawbreakers.
  • State university system sends letter that puts university presidents on notice.
