DeSantis Fires Off Huge Executive Order – Punishes Top Florida Leader for “Dereliction of Duty”

What’s Happening:

Democrat prosecutors around the country have been allowing violent criminals to get off with a slap on the wrist or no lock up for too long. This is not the policy citizens want from prosecutors.

Americans deserve safety from criminals, and they expect prosecutors to deliver the punishment to deter criminal activity. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said enough is enough when this prosecutor was discovered letting criminals slide. Do the crime in the Sunshine State and you need to do the time.

DeSantis penned an executive order and sent packing Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Monique Worrell for “dereliction of duty” on crime. She gets to spend some time thinking about all the crimes her policies allowed under her watch.

From Fox News:

“The practices and policies of her office have allowed murderers, other violent offenders, and dangerous drug traffickers to receive extremely reduced sentences and escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct. In some cases, these offenders have evaded incarceration altogether,” DeSantis’ office wrote in a statement.

Whenever a liberal prosecutor lets criminals get off easy it creates a dangerous situation for the public. Criminals are sent right back to the streets to do whatever they want while the law is weakened. Criminals who aren’t punished to the full extent of the law know they can get away with even more illegal acts. Criminals don’t worry about harsh punishments because liberals “feel their pain.”

Worrell was called out by DeSantis for allegedly regularly avoiding mandatory minimum punishment for gun and drug trafficking crimes. Hey, nothing like giving armed robbers and drug dealers a little extra help so they can become upstanding members of the community. She apparently also kept juvenile offenders from serious charges or jail time. Spare the rod, spare the child… and everyone suffers.

To top it off, Worrel also allegedly went easy on child pornography offenders and didn’t tack on extra time for sentences when there were prior offenses involved in the case. No worries here for criminals. They could have three strikes against them and be back in the game sooner than later.

Watch out for the liberal attack squads to scream their heads off over this action from DeSantis. They can’t stand it when a fellow liberal gets sacked for not doing the job. DeSantis has canned another state attorney before for not enforcing the state’s abortion ban. That ouster was held up in court, so DeSantis is likely on solid ground with this latest executive action.

DeSantis has proven that he will not stand for soft law enforcement policies and that prosecutors must follow the law. While blue states and their governors continue to promote criminal activity, seeing DeSantis exercise leadership to come down hard on crime is a show of his leadership.

Key Takeaways:

  • Top prosecutor loses job in Florida for alleged soft-on-crime policies.
  • DeSantis uses executive power to replace state attorney.
  • Governor says that state attorney failed for “dereliction of duty.”
