Top Democrat Senator Exposes Their Biggest 2023 Failure – Here’s How Bad It Really Is on Capitol Hill

A recent report revealed that this session of Congress has been the least productive in decades. The deepening divide between the parties has resulted in massive gridlock.

This, while the country struggles with high energy prices, unabated inflation, an overwhelmed border, and fears about global war.

Now, Democrat Sen. Mark Warner was forced to discuss Congress’s failure to pass funding for Ukraine or the border by the end of the year. This is who he blamed for some of the holdup.

From Breitbart:
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) reacted to news that the Senate will not reach a deal…
“And I could also say, am I frustrated that we didn’t have bigger involvement of the White House and more involvement of the Minority Leader, McConnell, two weeks ago? Absolutely. These talks didn’t get super serious until the last few days in terms of drafting.”

Sen. Warner claimed that talks for pressing issues like the border didn’t get “super serious” until the last few days before the end of the year. He also asked why the White House “didn’t have a bigger involvement” weeks earlier.

It appears Biden has not been concerned much with Congress over the last year. He has made demands in the form of billions to give to Ukraine. But beyond that, it seems the president is uninterested in what Congress is doing.

Since Republicans took over the House, the administration appeared to lose interest in negotiating for deals. Biden was happy to work with Congress when he had control of both chambers.

But the man once praised for his ability to reach across the aisle has seemed unwilling to cooperate with Republicans since he entered the White House. Even one of his own party members, Sen. Warner, expressed frustration that Biden was not working on a deal before the deadline.

This will certainly give fuel to critics of the administration. Many have questioned the competence of those working under Biden. Federal agencies have received criticism for major blunders. And now, White House staffers are being blasted for failing to come to a deal—even over Ukraine, one of Biden’s major priorities.

Key Takeaways:

  • Democrat Sen. Mark Warner criticized the White House for failing to negotiate a deal with Congress.
  • He said that talks over the border and Ukraine didn’t get “super serious” until the final days of the session.
  • This comes as Biden appeared unwilling to work with Congress after Republicans gained control of the House.
