What’s Happening:
American sports have been invaded by political correctness for years. Major pastimes have been used by progressives to push their message to millions.
Fans have been disgusted by athletes, teams, and league bosses bowing to the “woke” mob.
CEO and president of Ultimate Fighting Championship, Dana White, was pressured to bend the knee as well. A major sponsor even demanded White to remove a pro-Trump post from his social media. But this is how this league owner responded.
From Daily Wire:
“One of our big sponsors called and said, take that down,” White said during an interview with comedian and podcaster Theo Von. “You know what I said? Go f*** yourself.” …“You vote for whoever you want to vote for, and I’ll vote for whoever I want to vote for,” White continued. “That’s how this works. I don’t even care who you’re voting for. It’s none of my f***ing business. F*** you. Don’t ever f***ing call me and tell me who to vote for.”
According to a story he told on Theo Von’s podcast, UFC owner Dana White was pressured by a sponsor to remove a pro-Trump post he put on his personal social media account. But White does not appear to be worried about losing sponsors, as other sports league owners might be.
Because he refused to take down the post, hitting back at the company with a profanity-laced response.
He rejected the company’s demand and rebuked them for seemingly interfering with his personal political choices. He told the sponsor “You vote for whoever you want to vote for, and I’ll vote for whoever I want to vote for.”
It should come as no surprise that the CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship would use strong language in response to a demand. Despite this, many fans of the sport will no doubt applaud his refusal to bow to corporate pressure.
In recent years, professional sports leagues have “gone woke” in part to appease corporation sponsors. They have used their massive platforms to push progressive views on race, gender, LGBT, and other liberal hobby horses.
Millions of Americans have been turned off by these leagues’ “virtue signaling.” Ticket sales and other revenue steeply dropped, compelling these leagues to quickly shelve political messaging. Only after some of these leagues decided to tone down their political content did sales rebound.
Some might find it hypocritical that a corporation wanted to censor a conservative’s views while demanding sports push a progressive view.
But UFC fans don’t seem to have any fears this will happen to their sport. Dana White has long been known to be a friend of Donald Trump. And the fear of losing a sponsor does not seem to be enough for him to censor himself in any way, shape, or form.
Key Takeaways:
- UFC CEO Dana White cursed out a sponsor who told him to delete a pro-Trump post.
- White lectured the company saying, “You vote for whoever you want to vote for, and I’ll vote for whoever I want to vote for.”
- This comes after many professional sports used their platforms to push progressive views.
