Officials in the Biden administration act like they don’t believe they should be held accountable for their actions. While Democrats serving under Biden regularly call for the prosecution of Republicans, they regularly ignore accountability rules that should apply to everyone in D.C.

Republicans in Congress want Biden officials to follow the rules and are calling for harsher treatment of the president’s minions who ignore Congress. The conflict has escalated so that GOP members are threatening more legal action.

The latest dust-up comes from a Texan who wants a former Biden official to testify or face legal consequences. Ignoring legal requests from Congress has landed former President Donald Trump officials in jail, and GOP members are moving toward a similar scenario with Biden’s team members.

Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul sent a letter Wednesday morning to former White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s lawyer threatening a subpoena after she failed to respond to an original request to appear for a transcribed interview as part of the committee’s probe into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“As you know, I requested a response from Ms. Psaki by May 28, 2024, which has now passed. Your client’s disregard for my request is an affront to this Committee and the U.S. House of Representatives,” McCaul wrote in the letter.

“Further, Ms. Psaki is a private citizen, who has published her insight into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan for public consumption and personal profit. Ms. Psaki’s duty to appear before Congress is manifest, and her former employer’s desire to avoid congressional oversight is not relevant,” McCaul continued.

According to McCaul, Psaki failed to adequately respond to his letter dated May 21, 2024, requesting that she appear before the Committee for a transcribed interview. The request relates to the investigation into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Psaki recently published a book about her time in the Biden White House. She falsely claimed in the book that Biden never looked at his watch during the transfer ceremony for 13 American soldiers killed in Kabul in 2021. This was considered a severe insult to military personnel past and present.

Biden’s actions relating to the withdrawal have been widely criticized by members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and throughout the political spectrum. Biden and his team have stood by the withdrawal decision and have not taken responsibility for the U.S. servicemembers’ deaths. An ISIS-K terrorist killed the soldiers with a suicide bomb outside the Kabul airport while evacuations were ongoing. The terrorist act also killed nearly 200 Afghan civilians.

Biden’s team at the Pentagon concluded that the terrorist attack was “not preventable” despite first-hand witness accounts alleging the attacker could have been stopped. The Biden White House claimed the withdrawal was ultimately a positive success.
