Republicans have been heavily critical of how President Biden has handled the Southern border. But most, if not all, of the decisions have been made by his head of the Department of Homeland Security.
Alejandro Mayorkas has been the official authoring memos that have prevented Border Patrol from deporting border jumpers. He has refused to allow the agency to remove illegal immigrants from the country.
Recently, he opened up about his views on the exploding crisis. And what he said could reveal why he has refused to enforce U.S. immigration law.
From Breitbart:
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas responded to a question on how to handle people who are in the country illegally by stating that there are “12 million people who are here in the United States who have been contributing so fundamentally to our country’s well-being.”“…They’re our neighbors, our friends, our fellow congregants. They provide — are frontline workers. We need to do something, and I am hopeful and remain hopeful that Congress will do it.”
DHS head Mayorkas claimed the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in America have “been contributing so fundamentally to our country’s well-being.” He said this while demanding Congress “fix” the country’s immigration system.
“Fix” could only mean changing laws to allow millions more into the country. Mayorkas repeated a claim pushed by many Democrats, that illegal immigrants are “frontline workers.” Democrats have long said America needs these undocumented workers to do the jobs Americans “refuse” to do.
What is more often true is that companies prefer to hire illegal immigrants, because they can pay them well below what American workers demand.
Mayorkas’s comments leave little doubt as to his view on the border. It appears he thinks America needs more migrants flooding the country. Mayorkas has refused to deport illegal entrants, even those with criminal records. He has forced DHS and Border Patrol to release border jumpers into the country, with virtually zero means of tracking them.
Republicans have long criticized Mayorkas and his refusal to enforce border laws. Numerous House Republicans have called for his impeachment, as they’ve grilled him many times in Congress.
It does not appear that Mayorkas has any intentions of enforcing U.S. immigration law. As long as he continues to run the DHS, Americans can expect the border crisis to only get worse.
Key Takeaways:
- DHS head Mayorkas claimed illegal immigrants contribute to America’s “well-being.”
- Mayorkas has been frequently criticized for his refusal to defend the border.
- The Biden official is largely responsible for the border crisis, which has let in over 5 million illegals.
