For several years now, Democrat leaders have embraced policies that have brought their cities to the brink of ruin. Progressive activists, on city councils or serving as district attorneys, have pushed changes that backfired tremendously.

Rising crime and danger have driven many to flee these blue cities. And one big problem is getting so bad, even Democrat leaders are waking up.

In a major blue city, the mayor has said enough is enough. She is demanding something to be done, which should have been done years ago. It will finally clean up a section of the city, despite leftist protests.

Any newcomers to the camp will be met by a coordinated team of social workers and law enforcement who will inform them that no new tents will be allowed…

Wu’s plan to solve the problem is three-pronged, starting with allowing police to remove tents and tarps is the first step, followed by connecting them with housing and other services.

The mayor of Boston has signed a new rule that will empower police to dismantle a tent city called “Methadone Mile.” As in many other blue cities, Democrats have done nothing to stop the spread of homelessness, drug addiction, and crime in many neighborhoods.

Local leaders have prevented police from clearing away these illegal encampments, which pose a risk to public health and safety. Democrats have spent ample tax dollars to provide help to homeless people.

But without enforcement from police, drug addicts and the mentally ill do not respond to offers of help.

Meanwhile, these growing encampments have destroyed entire communities. Businesses have folded as Americans flee to cities that enforce the law.

Mayor Mu, like a few other Democrats, has been pushed to actually deal with it. No doubt, it is the result of voters demanding action. In other cities, Democrats have begun to do what every leader had done for decades prior: enforce the law.

But leftists are still upset. Radical progressive ideology has inspired Democrat leaders to neglect law enforcement and allow crime and homelessness to abound. Attempts at correcting this will lead to backlash from progressives.

It seems, however, that few residents will back them.
