Blue City Law Shot Down in Court – Judges Decide This Crazy Democrat Rule Is Unconstitutional

One of the most powerful rights to citizens in the United States is the right to vote. This right is guaranteed in the Constitution and exercising this right supports the foundation for the democratic Republic that is the United States.

Citizens of all walks of life throughout the nation’s history have fought to gain and keep the right to vote. This right is how the people exercise the rule of law and keep the government in check. Without this right, or if it is somehow diluted, society created by the framers of the Constitution falls apart.

Liberals in government have for years been trying to undermine the right to vote by American citizens. Leftists keep creating ways to allow non-citizens to vote so they can shift power to their leftist political allies and undermine democracy. Leftists are losing this fight in the courts.

From the Daily Caller:
A New York City law that would allow non-citizens to vote in local elections was deemed unconstitutional by a state appeals court on Wednesday.

“We determine that this local law was enacted in violation of the New York State Constitution and Municipal Home Rule Law, and thus, must be declared null and void,” Paul Wooten, associate justice of the Appellate Division for the Second Judicial Department in New York, wrote in the Wednesday ruling.

The court’s 3-1 ruling stated that the New York constitution clause that reads “every citizen shall be entitled to vote” only referred to U.S. citizens. The ruling handed Democrats a harsh defeat as they battle with Republican elected officials over the law.

Democrats want such laws because this one would have been a boost to their political power. Under the law, roughly 800,000 green card holders and individuals with federal work authorization living in New York City to vote in the city’s elections, including in mayoral and city council elections.

Republicans, claiming the law would promote widespread voter fraud, sued immediately after the law was introduced in 2022 and a lower court ruled against it. Democratic Mayor Eric Adams and his administration backed the law on appeal before it was struck down.

Democrats championed the law as “Our City, Our Vote” with the aim to include more non-citizens and migrants in elections. Republicans said this was nothing more than an attempt to boost the number of Democrat voters.

“This was an easy case,” said City Council Republican leader Joe Borelli. “All they had to do was read the state constitution and municipal law. The criticism falls on the proponents of the bill.”

This is not the end of the push to allow non-citizens to vote in U.S. elections. Similar laws exist in other regions in the country and are being challenged. U.S. citizens must realize that they must continue the fight to preserve their voting rights under the Constitution.

Key Takeaways:

  • An appeals court shot down a blue city law that allowed non-citizens to vote.
  • Republicans claimed New York City Democrats wanted to expand their voter base.
  • The law was ruled unconstitutional and declared “null and void” by the court.
