During the COVID pandemic, one major blue state was rocked by an elderly scandal. The former disgraced governor was accused of putting infected patients back into retirement homes.
Critics accused this move of rapidly spreading the virus to the most vulnerable group. And it was one of the reasons the governor was forced out of office.
Now, the very same state is being outed for another scandal involving the elderly. A group of retired Americans were evicted from their senior center. Only days later did they learn what the building was converted into.
From Daily Wire:
Dozens of seniors in New York, including a 94-year-old Army veteran named Frank Tammaro, were evicted from their senior center, which was then converted into a migrant shelter.Tammaro told Fox News that he had lived in the center for five years, and intended to spend the rest of his days there until he and the other members were notified that they were being kicked out. After he was evicted, Tammaro’s family found out that the center was turned into a migrant shelter.
New Yorkers are expressing outrage after the city forced dozens of elderly residents out of their senior center. One of them was 94-year-old veteran Frank Tammaro. The man is now living with his daughter, who might not have the resources or ability to care for him.
Only after the seniors were removed, did their families learn the building is now being used to house migrants.
New York City proudly boasted of its “sanctuary” status for illegal aliens. But when many of the migrants crossing the border during Biden’s administration started appearing in NYC, the mayor started to complain.
Despite claiming the crisis would “destroy” the city, Mayor Adams does not appear to be calling for the federal government to deport most of the migrants. Instead, he–like many other Democrat mayors–is demanding federal tax dollars to house and feed the migrants.
New Yorkers have voiced their displeasure over how the city is addressing the problem. Some residents have even protested the building of migrant shelters in parks, outside schools, and on other public properties.
The families of these retired citizens appear to be extremely angry over what transpired. Tammaro’s daughter said, “These migrants, they’re getting everything. They’re getting everything and I can’t get nothing for [Tammaro]. It angers me.”
It’s unclear how far the city will go to accommodate the increasing number of migrants. But it is possible that New York residents, fed up with the situation, could respond by voting out Democrats in the upcoming election.
