Though the 2020 presidential election is only weeks away, it seems Democratic nominee Joe Biden wants to remain careful. He has clearly limited his public appearances for safety reasons.
After the First Family tested positive for the coronavirus, and a couple campaign staffers for Kamala Harris also tested positive, it’s no surprise that Joe is remaining at a safe distance.
But he still needs to reach key voters on the campaign trail.
That’s why he’s decided to tap his former boss for assistance — Barack Obama has agreed to step in and campaign for Biden, according to several sources.
This way, Biden can remain largely out of harm’s way, and the former President can rally the Democrat constituency.
Obama plans to target important battleground states over the course of the next month, several of which could feasibly determine the outcome of the election.
Via The Daily Wire:
‘Obama intends to focus his efforts on early voting states in the final two weeks of the race,’ the officials tell CNN.
‘The former President will not aggressively barnstorm swing states, but rather intends to visit a handful of critical battlegrounds where voting is underway.
His schedule has not been finalized … but states under consideration for his solo appearances include Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and more.
The events in question will be “socially distant” but they’re designed to “garner local media coverage in key areas.”
This could also be in response to the many Donald Trump rallies being held across the nation. Instead of rallies, Biden is hoping Obama’s appearance on a stage can land him more votes.
To this point, Obama hasn’t been especially vocal in his support of Biden. He has officially endorsed the former Vice President, but he hasn’t been especially enthusiastic about it.
Now it appears that’s going to change.
Even though the events will be limited, Obama is certainly going to be campaigning hard for Biden, and he expects the media to take notice.
According to most national polls, Biden holds a significant lead over the incumbent. But things can change dramatically in the final few weeks, as we’ve seen before.
As for Donald Trump, he’s going to continue to make public appearances after his recovery, and the rallies will likely remain in full swing.
But will Obama’s going to bat for Biden result in a home run for Democrats…?
- Joe Biden has recruited former President Barack Obama to help his campaign efforts in “critical battlegrounds.”
- Though the events will be limited, the Biden campaign is hoping Obama’s appearances will deliver more votes come November.
- It remains to be seen if this support from the former President will bolster Biden’s election chances.
