Politicians are supposed to follow the law and make sure their next policy doesn’t fly in the face of the law and court rulings. It seems some politicians never learn that when they try something and it gets shot down by the highest court in the land, they shouldn’t try it again.
Joe Biden – who is floundering in the polls – is back full throttle pandering to his Democrat voter base with his latest edict that delivers another mass handout. His first attempt bit the dust over the summer, but that didn’t’ stop him from creating a new path to avoid court decisions.
At stake are billions of dollars in taxpayer funds that will go to people who can’t pay their bills as they promised. Biden is determined to win voters while whisking away debt that people should be paying on their own.
From the Daily Caller:
The Biden administration announced nearly $5 billion in student loan forgiveness for more than 80,000 people Wednesday, according to a press release.
Biden’s debt-elimination plan flies in the face of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June that the administration’s student loan forgiveness program for non-Pell Grant and Pell Grant recipients was unconstitutional. The court was clear in its decision with a 6-3 ruling.
By the end of June Biden’s Department of Education (DOE) contrived another plan to expand income-driven repayment plans. The package could cost American taxpayers billions of dollars.
The administration’s scheme allows for borrowers who have been in repayment for at least 20 years but didn’t get credit for payments will have their debt relieved through Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Biden proudly proclaimed the new plan this week in a press release.
“This relief is thanks to my Administration’s efforts to fix Public Service Loan Forgiveness, so teachers, members of the military, nurses, and other public service workers get the relief they have earned,” Biden stated.
Biden continues to tout his college debt handouts by stating that his administration has forgiven billions in student debt cancellation for more than 3.6 million borrowers. He stated in the press release that he has used multiple federal programs in all to forgive more than $100 billion in debt for almost 2 million borrowers.
What Biden believes is helping students is a slap in the face to taxpayers who must foot the bill for someone else’s higher education. This is one situation where the courts will have to step in again and stop the Biden executive overreach before the American worker ends up paying the bill, again.
Key Takeaways:
- Biden’s latest multi-billion handout finds a workaround to Supreme Court ruling.
- The president proudly states that his new loan forgiveness plan is a “relief.”
