Biden Administration Announces Another Billion-Dollar Round of Student Loan Forgiveness

Things seemingly keep getting worse for President Joe Biden by the day. He hit a new low-point on Wednesday, when a poll revealed that nearly two-thirds of Americans want him to drop out of the presidential race.

That’s why it came as no surprise on Thursday when Biden made a move that shows that he’s reached a new level of desperation. Feeling that they had no other option to win over voters, the Biden administration announced today that they will forgive another $1.2 billion in student loans.

This move will cover the debt for 35,000 people through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It means that a total of 4.76 million people have received relief from the Biden administration.

Biden wasted no time in taking a victory lap after announcing this.

From The Hill”
“Today’s announcement comes on top of the significant progress we’ve made for students and borrowers over the past three years. That includes providing the largest increases to the maximum Pell Grant in over a decade; fixing Income-Driven Repayment so borrowers get the relief they are entitled to under the law; and holding colleges accountable for taking advantage of students and families.

And earlier this year, I laid out my Administration’s new plans that would cancel student debt for more than 30 million Americans when combined with everything we’ve done so far,” Biden said in a statement.

Biden can glorify this move all that he wants to, but it simply reeks of desperation. The president is so desperate to keep young voters on his side that he’s resorted to giving out handouts just in the hopes of appeasing them. It doesn’t get much more pathetic than that!

Biden May Drop Out Of The Race As Soon As This Weekend

The specific timing of this move is also quite interesting. It comes amidst reports that Biden may drop out of the race as soon as this weekend. He’s getting hit with growing pressure from prominent Democrats who fear that he can’t beat Donald Trump.

From Axios:
Several top Democrats privately tell us the rising pressure of party congressional leaders and close friends will persuade President Biden to decide to drop out of the presidential race, as soon as this weekend.

Why it matters: The 81-year-old president, now self-isolating with COVID, remains publicly dug in. But privately he’s resigned to mounting pressure, bad polls, and untenable scrutiny making it impossible to continue his campaign, the Democrats tell us.

Behind the scenes: The private message, distilled to its bluntest form: The top leaders of his party, his friends and key donors believe he can’t win, can’t change public perceptions of his age and acuity, and can’t deliver congressional majorities.

Biden’s latest student loan forgiveness push is clearly a last-ditch desperate effort to garner him more votes among young people. Perhaps he’s hoping that if he can show his fellow Democrats even a slight spike in support, they’ll lay off him and allow him to continue on in the race in peace.

Unfortunately for Biden, however, it’s going to take a whole lot more than some student loan forgiveness to save him now.

The American people aren’t nearly as dumb as Biden seems to think we are. Millions of Americans have seen Biden’s cognitive failings on full display like never before in the wake of his terrible presidential debate last month.

Biden can’t even get through a simple speech these days without multiple gaffes and unintelligible ramblings. Even many of the most devoted Democrats can’t deny that Biden has become an embarrassment of a leader.

If this latest move was indeed a last-ditch election effort from Biden, don’t be surprised if he drops out of the race in the coming days.

Key Takeaways:

  • Biden announces more student loan forgiveness.
  • This comes amidst growing calls from Democrats for Biden to step down.
  • Rumors are swirling that Biden may step down as soon as this weekend.
