After Biden Fails to Deliver 1 Critical Plan – House GOP Moves to Shut Down His Big Day

It’s safe to say that congressional Republicans aren’t getting along with President Biden. Despite Biden promising to be a “unity” leader when sworn into office, he has refused to cooperate with Republicans on nearly every issue.

Instead, he has called them “Ultra MAGA” and demanded they fall in line with his agenda.

House Republicans are demanding from Biden his budget request and national security proposal. He has missed the law-mandated deadlines for both. It doesn’t seem Biden is willing to answer to the House. So, Republicans have come up with a plan to shut down his bid day.

From Fox News:
President Biden is preparing to deliver a State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress after again missing his deadline to present spending and national security plans to Congress.

Some Republicans in Congress want to hold Biden and future presidents accountable to the deadline with a simple penalty. No plans on time, no grand speech under a proposal titled the SUBMIT IT Act, short for Send Us Budget Materials & International Tactics In Time.

Calling Biden “irresponsible,” House Republicans are considering a law that would penalize the president for failing to obey legal deadlines for his proposals. Federal law requires Biden to submit his budget request and national security proposal for the year.

Biden has missed the February 1st deadline for both. Now, March is looming, but Biden has shown no signs of submitting these proposals. Republicans want there to be consequences for a president who flagrantly ignores the law.

They want to deny Biden the chance to give the State of the Union address. This speech is often a chance for a president to show off his achievements and boost his presidency, especially in an election year.

Republicans don’t believe a president who fails to do his job should get a chance to brag before the entire country. Biden will already have a hard time during his speech. He has little achievements to point to. And if he claims the state of the county is “strong,” he will not be able to prove it with anything he’s done in office.

Is there a chance that this bill can pass before the State of the Union? That is not likely. NOr, would the Democrat-run Senate pass this bill—and neither would Biden sign into law a bill that hurts his presidency?

Key Takeaways:

  • House Republicans are seeking to penalize Biden for failing to obey the law.
  • Biden has missed deadlines to submit his budget proposals to Congress.
  • Republicans want to deny him that chance to give his SOTU address.
