The 2020 presidential election is only a few months away, and campaign donations are pouring in on both sides. In fact, both Democrats and Republicans keep setting new records.
Recently, Joe Biden’s campaign announced it had raised over $140 million in the month of July. They also confirmed $294 million in cash on hand, which is a $50 million increase over June.
Furthermore, Biden is planning a major ad campaign that targets many historically Red states and important battleground states.
Can the Donald Trump campaign keep up?
Well, according to today’s announcement, they didn’t just keep up in July — they surpassed the DNC’s impressive $140M number.
Via Fox News:
President Trump’s re-election campaign says that it and the Republican National Committee (RNC) and their joint fundraising committees combined brought in an eye-popping $165 million in contributions last month.
The RNC even tops the DNC in terms of cash on hand: Republicans claim over $300 million, compared to the aforementioned $294 million for Democrats.
Once again, the GOP side has set a monthly record.
July was the best online fundraising month ever for the RNC, and Trump re-election campaign manager Bill Stepien said:
The enthusiasm behind President Trump’s re-election continues to grow as July’s massive fundraising totals prove.
Voters express their support for President Trump in many different ways and donating to his campaign is one of the most personal, because they feel invested in his successes and the future success of the country.
The race for donation funds is very tight. The Biden campaign and the DNC just barely out-raised Trump and the RNC in May and June.
But July appears to be a bounce-back month for the Red team, though once again everything remains very close.
Does this mean we can expect a close race come November…?
Only if the campaign donations directly equate to votes, which isn’t always the case. The 2020 election hinges on so many important factors right now, ranging from COVID to social justice to the economy.
We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out.
