From the very outset of the Biden administration, critics have lambasted it. President Biden seemed to select cabinet members based on their race and gender, not their competence. As a result, the country has suffered from one crisis after another.
But the scandals are not limited to the Department of Homeland Security or the DOT (which has allowed trains to derail, bridges to collapse, and airports to fail).
Yet another Biden administration agency is under fire. This particular body has been in the news recently, for attacking former President Donald Trump. It coordinated with the FBI to storm Trump’s home to seize documents. But now, this agency is being sued for what could be a coverup with several other agencies.
From The Post Millennial:
America First Legal (AFL) has sued the Biden administration’s Health and Human Services (HHS) department as well as the National Archives (NARA) for allegedly deleting the emails of former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) employees…In a press release from AFL, the law firm stated that it was suing “Secretary Xavier Becerra, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Archivist of the United States Colleen Shogan, and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) for illegally destroying federal records from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in violation of the Federal Records Act.”
Three top Biden agencies are being sued for allegedly deleting emails from the CDC. According to the lawsuit, The HHS and National Archives deleted records in the form of communications with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Federal law requires official documents, even important emails and memos, to be preserved.
The American public has access to all government documents, through the Freedom of Information Act. Law prohibits government agents from destroying those documents, in what could be an attempt to hide information from Americans.
Could these agencies be guilty of deliberately deleting emails to hide data from possible future FOIA requests? Americans have not been fond of the CDC in recent years. Many have accused the agency of failing miserably over the COVID pandemic. Some might believe these agencies were complicit in deleting these messages, to cover something up.
It is particularly damning to hear that the National Archives is named in this lawsuit. The agency’s very purpose is to preserve presidential and other government records. For it to be accused of deleting records—after it sicced the FBI on Donald Trump—will no doubt outrage many Americans.
Key Takeaways:
- Three Biden agencies are being sued for allegedly deleting records.
- The National Archives and Department of Health and Human Services have been accused of deleting emails from the CDC.
- It is a violation of federal law to destroy government records, including communications.
