After U.S. Church Group Gets Trapped Overseas – 1 Benghazi Hero Leaps into Action to Save Them

What’s Happening:

When war broke out between Israel and Hamas, many Americans were caught in the crossfire. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans were in the country–suddenly unable to leave. Biden’s State Department has been heavily criticized for not offering adequate support to help stranded citizens.

Some of those stranded included a group of dozens of Americans visiting the Holy Land sites. They were stuck in Bethlehem as the war erupted. Their only chance of escape was to make it from their hotel to the border of Jordan.

It did not seem they would be able to find a way out. That is until the brother of one of the women stranded reached out to a U.S. Marine veteran–who once fought off terrorists in a place called Benghazi.

From Fox News:
McDonald told Fox News Digital that he made contact with Mark “Oz” Geist, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who was one of the American contractors who famously fought off a 13-hour assault in Benghazi in September 2012…

McDonald said that Geist got to work reaching out to contacts he had in the region, which allowed him to provide reliable information back to the group in Bethlehem…

By Thursday, the group of Americans finally boarded flights back to the U.S., but frustrations remained about the process.

Mark “Oz” Geist, an American hero who fought off enemies in Benghazi, helped coordinate plans to get over 80 Americans out of war-hit Israel. Geist provided reliable information to the stranded tour group.

He was the one who learned their best chance of getting out was by going through Jordan. Thanks to that information, the group was able to work with their tour guide to get out of Israel and book flights home.

This came after days of trying to get answers from the State Department, hearing nothing. Biden’s administration had been telling Americans to find their own flights home, even after airlines grounded their planes.

The State Department has reportedly flown only some Americans out of Israel. They required these stranded citizens to pay back the government for these flights–which only brought them as far as Athens, Greece.

But thanks to Geist, this group of Christians was able to fly all the way back home.

Key Takeaways:

  • A group of over 80 Christian tourists were trapped in Bethlehem as war broke out in Israel.
  • They were unable to get a flight home nor get information from the State Department.
  • A brother back home contacted Benghazi hero Mark Geist, who provided reliable information to get them safely home.
