After Michael Cohen Admits to Jaw-Dropping Crime – House Republicans Make 1 Shocking Move

New York prosecutor Alvin Bragg’s key witness against Trump is Michael Cohen. The former Trump lawyer has long accused him of committing a crime. Cohen claimed that Trump broke the law by falsifying business records.

Yet legal experts have declared Cohen did more damage to the prosecution. His tarnished reputation and questionable claims could have undermined Democrats’ case against the former president.

Cohen even admitted during the trial that he stole tens of thousands of dollars from Trump. He might have even lied under oath about several key details. Now, it looks like House Republicans are fed up with this guy. And they are bombarding the DOJ with demands.

From The Post Millennial:
In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer urged the Department of Justice leader to take “immediate action” on the criminal referrals issued by congressional committees for former Trump attorney Michael Cohen…

[Cohen] “been referred to the US Department of Justice (DOJ) on at least three separate occasions by Republicans on the House” Oversight and Judiciary Committees and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence “for committing perjury and knowingly making false statements during his testimony at a Congressional hearing and deposition.”

House Republicans put out criminal referrals against Michael Cohen over possible times he lied under oath. They are demanding the Department of Justice to act on these referrals, investigating the former Trump associate.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer called Cohen a “pathological liar.” Cohn had pled guilty to lying under oath in 2018—for which he served time in jail. Republicans are accusing him of lying on “at least three separate occasions” during other hearings.

In the letter to the DOJ, House Republicans referenced claims Cohen made during his testimony in Trump’s criminal case. They also pointed out Cohen admitted “to a more significant felony than what the prosecution has charged to” Trump.

It is unknown if the DOJ will comply with the House’s request. A huge conflict of interest remains, as Cohen is a Trump enemy and the DOJ is being led by President Biden—who is running against Trump.

But would the DOJ refuse to investigate legitimate concerns, over politics? This DOJ seems to prioritize political prosecution over enforcing the law. Crime runs rampant in major cities, with the DOJ nowhere to be found. Yet it found the time to raid Trump’s home, authorized to use deadly force.

Key Takeaways:

  • House Republicans are demanding the DOJ to act on criminal referrals against Michael Cohen.
  • Lawmakers accused the former Trump lawyer of lying under oath.
  • Cohen is the prosecution’s “star” witness in the New York criminal case against Trump.
