After RNC Picks a New Leader – His Dirty Laundry Comes Tumbling Out

Many Republicans celebrated when Ronna McDaniel and her team were ousted from the Republican National Committee. Soon after their departure, Republicans elected new leadership, including Michael Whatley and Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.

The new team promised a lean and mean RNC—that focused on winning elections. Lara Trump promised that the party will even employ legal ballot harvesting and mail-in ballots to gain an advantage.

But as the RNC trades hands, some people are raising the alarm. Numerous people are being hired to important roles. One of the RNC’s new chief counsel has a history of working with Republican candidates. However, some Trump supporters won’t like what they see.

From Just the News:
Charlie Spies, the new Republican National Committee chief counsel, is an election lawyer who worked in support of presidential campaigns for Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Notably, Spies has long downplayed 2020 election issues as the GOP seeks to recapture the White House in the November election…

In 2015, while Spies advised pro-Bush PACs, he filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against the Trump Organization. Spies alleged that Trump illegally used his business for campaign purposes when the Trump Organization’s general counsel sent cease-and-desist letters to the Right to Rise leadership PAC, the Club for Growth, and Bush donor Mike Fernandez.

The Republican National Committee made Charlie Spies its chief counsel. Spies is a lawyer who has worked for Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, and Ron DeSantis. He has also been outspoken in his disagreements with Donald Trump, especially over election integrity.

He criticized Trump for questioning U.S. election integrity going all the way back to 2016. He downplayed fears about the 2020 Election, despite many affidavits and claims. In 2021, he congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris when they were sworn into office.

It appears Spies represents the GOP establishment that has long worked against Donald Trump and America First candidates. Spies also seems ignorant of election integrity measures, calling into doubt his ability to advise the RNC during crucial election time.

Key Takeaways:

  • Anti-Trump lawyer Charlie Spies has been appointed as RNC chief counsel.
  • Spies worked for establishment Republicans such as Mitt Romney.
  • Spies rejected claims about the 2020 Election being stolen.
